i`m missing something here........

the size and reach differential is just ridiculous considering the guy that has it is oscar dlh.....

the guy`s fought full fledged middleweights.....

yeah,he`s a little older,but he`s still a very good fighter...

he`s only been stopped once in his entire career(at middleweight vs b.hop)....

pacquaio`s a damned good little fighter, but he`s never fought over 130(edit...135)....and he just eked out a decision over jmm at 130...barely....

i believe that these odds are a direct result of the cult-like status that manny`s achieved by handling the mexican greats(jmm.m.a.b. and eric morales)....all,btw,more toward the end of their careers

can you imagine jmm vs dlh?....i can`t....this is silly...

which brings me to jmm/casamayor....

jmm moving up 5 pounds...which is alot...to fight a guy who`s extremely clever...has surprising pop.....and is a lefty(and leftys have always given jmm problems)....

again ,i`m thinking that casa isn`t always able to be the bigger, stronger guy in many of his tough fights...he will be here...

casamayor isn`t some clown....yes he`s 37...marquez is 35....and given that manny had marquez on his ass 4 times in their 2 fights and the fact that casa just stopped big, strong michael katsidis,i gotta take those odds...

i love marquez and maybe casa`s heading over the hill, but, given the circumstances,i can`t pass up the 3-1 odds here,....

that one`s iffy.....but,dlh?.......i`m on it...a joke,imo...

Hey Garden, Manny did just fight at 135 and handled the weight well.

He will still be fast at a higher weight but so will Oscar.

Pac has a snowballs chance in hell of winning this fight.

I can't wait to see the Oscar ITD prop as I think this fight will be a 2 round blow out.

Seriously...... i dont know what to think about this fight. Lots of question marks.

DLH couldnt can Forbes, no reason to think Manny will be easier. At least IMO. Yea, the extra weight may slow Manny down a tad, but he'll still be twice as fast as DLH. Come fight time against Diaz Manny was up to 147 lb.

try and feature marquez vs dlh.....

manny`s not a welterweight...and he`s almost 4 inches shorter....

the guy`s not a god....

Still a very interesting fight. Manny is in a win/win situation..... if he loses he'll just go back down and defend his title...

No one really expects much of him at welter, so again.. not a big deal if he loses. Pac is looking at the fight as a challenge, hes not looking for a lifelong home at 147...... he gets his chance to knock off a legend in the sport and the timing is right.

His wallet will be happy either way. :)

when i heard this fight was announce i thought the guy telling me was joking and then i had to fight off guys who thought the size advantages wasn't that big a deal. This should be a slam dunk for Oscar. I wonder if Oscar has in his contract that if he loses he gets to represent Manny:shrug: Only way i think he can lose.

Raw, I believe their is reason to think Pac will be easier IMO. Forbes is a very good boxer and when he does get caught clean, he takes it well. Manny has been KO'd twice and staggered by numerous opponents including the completely shot Oscar Larios.

I know his KO losses where 100 years ago but it shows that he does not have a Hagler type chin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS4Obboqaec&feature=related

Take a look at the above fight. He was flattened by a guy who was not a big puncher. The guy had 7 KO's in 27 fights.

Forbes boxed and defended against Oscar but Pac will FIGHT Oscar. This is why we love Pac and unfortunately, it will be his undoing (unless he pulls a Barrios and starts boxing like he's Sweet Pea Whitaker).

His last 3 opponents Diaz, JMM and Barrera are no longer punchers at this stage in their career.
Oscar is still big, hits hard and is still pretty fast.
Oscar has obliterated some smaller guys within 2 rounds who were considered to have very good chins at the time until Oscar decimated them such as Troy Dorsey, Paez, Leija and Darryl Tyson.
I know this was 100 years ago as well.

I will be surprised if Pac go's more than 6 rounds with Oscar but I expect Pac to be dummied much quicker than that.

Good luck all.

DLH is -185 in Vegas as I posted in another thread. He opened -165. If you absolutely LOVE this guy, fly in and wager some serious coin as this ain't 5Dimes! Personally, I would go to different properties and wager 2-5 dimes at different books. No bets over $9999, as they have to generate a report. I don't particularly care for these circus side-show matchups so I most probably will not get involved.

Actually I dont see a quick win for oscar.

some bookmakers (gamebookers, bwin) have + lines for under 9.5 rounds.

gamebookers actually has +225, maybe thats a typo, but somehow I think Manny can put up a good fight.

"Dancing with the stars" is what I see here; a totally pretentious spectacle.

Im on your side about DLH... very good point, Pac's aggression will work against him in this fight. i cant bring myself to make a play on either fighter, but DLH certainly deserves to be the fav...

As for the fight above, Pac looked like he had never been coached a day in his life... he is light years better, and working with Freddie Roach improves his chances greatly IMO. He'll have some great sparring partners, a guy (Roach) who knows the new (old) DLH well, and who holds some animosity towards DLH.... I sometimes place too much emphasis on the "bad blood" aspect, though

I do think the fight will last at least 6/7 rounds.... if not more.

There is no doubt Pac has improved 1000% since that KO, I'm just not sure his chin has.

Good luck with whatever you decide to bet mate.

Franks is right. Vegas is accepting very good sized bets on this. I was able to get -155 through a good friend a while back. He was able to get a bet for the mid 5 figures on it for us.

I'm just glad u forgot about that house I owe u.
I enjoy playful slaggings before a fight but I will never kick a man while he is down unless he is acting like a complete Knob.

Your loss was my gain but the roles will be reversed soon enough. :toast:

which sportsbooks have the line up for the dlh fight and where would you recommend i go? I assume Hilton & MGM Grand. Any idea what the current odds are? Have they gone higher than -185?

Thanks!

Incredible line and wager amount. Nice job. My wagers are too small to merit a trip to Vegas, and I have ZERO interest in tickets, but betting exchanges could bring Oscar near -200, which would be a huge wager for me.

DLH is looking trim. All he has to do for this fight is make weight, there's nothing tactical about it. I mean, who's he going to spar with - Marquez? Morales? It's not necessary, the first strong left hook and Manny's on queer street. Jab him until he's frustrated and reckless, then in round 4 or 5 catch him with a left hook coming in, fight's over. The Philippines are in for a rude awakening Dec. 6.

Is anyone else concerned this may turn into a sparring session at some point? I see no real animosity, and no motivation for Oscar since the money is already made, if anything it may be in his interest to look competitive rather than blow him out in 3.
