im been looking at trucks lately and want to know if any of you have a dodge ram 1500 or 2500 years 96-98? i have a friend who works at dealer and tells me they are always in the shop{ famous for bad ball joints or transmissions} i been looking at a few and wanted to know if any one has had problems with them, i dont want buy a used ram and put in new transmission in a few months after the warranty has expired..............thanks

I bought a 95 DOdgeRam 3500. I had it for 5 plus years. Transmission was fine. I did have ball joint problems off & on for 2 years until local mechanic straightened the problem out. Van hah 170,000 plus miles on it when I traded it in last December. I bought a 2001; same model.
