I was looking at buying a '97 1500 4x4. Any mechanics or owners out there have any reasons why I should or should not think about buying this truck.

Just my 2 cents....I would say stay away from Dodges. Dont know if they have changed for 2007 but the tranmissions have been junk. I always owned a dodge for the last 15 years (got employee discount). Last one I had was a 2003 Ram. The damn thing shook going down the road. I took it to 4 different dealers and the first 3 said it was normal. The last one said it was the tires and if i wanted it fixed I would have to take it to the tire dealer. (WTF..I didnt buy the tires seperatley..they came with the truck) The tire dealer wanted to charge me for the wear on them. Told them to forget it because it was suppose to still be under warranty. Called customer service for dodge and got no where with them so i had a bumper sticker made up that said "This piece of SH-T made by Daimler Chrysler" and stuck it on the truck. As soon as I knew i wouldnt be upside down on the loan I traded it in on a 2005 Silverado. Best move I have ever made.
