Hey Freeze, as a Duke fan this kills me to admit it, but your right, they did CHOKE! If Jason Williams is player of the year, I'm gonna win a couple of Oscars on Sunday. He isn't the best player on the freakin team, Mr. Dunleavy please stand up.

But you are wrong about one thing. When Coach K. talks about how great his kids are, he is telling the truth. Every one of them will graduate from a real school with a real degree. Williams and Boozer are graduating in 3 years from DUKE. I can't even get out of Community College in 3 years.

But as a DUKE fan it kills me to do this, but hats off to Indiana. I put the jinx on em' by betting with the wrong head again.

Now........

Yeah Neemer, you're right, but Knight will never get any of the credit because the media hates his arse.

If he was still there, it wouldn't have even been close though. He wouldn't have gotten half of the calls that IU got tonight. I'm not saying Duke got screwed or anything, just that IU would have gotten the screw if Knight was still there.

4 feelings I have about this game:

1) Hate it that I lost money on the over

2) Love it that I won money on IU

3) Love that Duke lost. I hate those bastards

4) Love it that the IU Coach Mike Davis played for the greatest University in the World: The University of Alabama.

I saw Mike Davis , coach of Indiana on ESPN after the game. He said one of the players on Duke came into the pre game room where he was and asked another player what time they were playing Saturday. Davis coulndt believe he would say that with him in the room. Davis goes down and tells his kids what was said and I think they got a little steamed.

I was trying to figure out who might have said it. I remembered a incident at the end of the game with a bench player who got into a shouting match and had to be restrained. I am betting that the Indiana players went up to him and said.....Hey Dukie what time did you say you are playing Saturday ?

March Madness ........Gotta Love it !

Lets ask whoever took Indiana ML if there is any value in the tournaments. Hell this is what we play for !

I liked the Mike Davis interview after the game. His last comment made him seem so serene in the sea of underdog crazy fans... "We're on our way... we're on our way"

And did anyone catch the Duke player Matt Christensen screaming at the ref after the game? It looked like he was about to hit one of them. He is a mormon, I shit you not.

great points about duke, especially Williams being overrated. This kid has skills but his decision making and shot selection are horrendous at times. And everyone that already didn't know does now about his clutch free throw making. Don't forget the silly fouls he commits, he has been in foul trouble several times this season. This guy gets all the credit but gimme Steve Blake at the point any day of the year, he hustles the whole game, looks to pass first, rarely takes a bad shot and seldom does he turn the ball over. He's just one guy I'd rather have on my team and I suspect you all could find a few as well. I'd would really be suprised if Williams had a major impact on the next level.
I see the tourney panning out as a Maryland/KU final and boy that would be fun.

"I'd would really be suprised if Williams had a major impact on the next level. "

Now we are getting carried away...one of the top scoring point guard prospects in YEARS. He will be an All-Star caliber player, I have no question about that in my mind.

scoring never has been J Williams problem, it seems to me it the other facets of the position that he has problems with. Next year he will playing guys bigger than him on a nightly basis. Regardless of where he ends up he probably won't be the first or even second option. He will be expected to distribute the ball first and score second. Also he will have to defend better especially in the post against bigger guards these are all new for him. Which conference is he going to be an all star guard in? Maybe 5 years or so but I would be suprised if sooner or at all.

there is little doubt Williams will be a great player on teh next level, but....he could be a Steve Francis type guy -- great skills but bad decision making......Coach K was a little too loose with this team.....he should have had Williams on the bench earlier in the year when he just started hoisting up NBA 3's at the wrong time.....not much discipline to this bunch and it showed when the money was on the line.....

yeah Monk I saw that big 30year old Mormon out there going crazy on the refs and commented somewhere else maybe he should have stayed on his mission a little longer to learn some anger self control......lol

He already has the 'NBA body', especially for a point guard..solid build and very strong for his position. Some say he isn't a good defensive player..not true...his defensive abilities get overlooked due to the focus on his offensive game. Francis is a shooting guard with some point guard abilities..I don't like that comparision. Williams was PG in high school and his first two years at Duke...played more of a two guard role this season with Duhon handling the ball. Still averaged almost 6 assists per game.

Sure, he had some decision making problems...still only a junior in college..he will mature in that area. Tremendous court vision and passing ability...NBA range...practically unguardable in a one on one situation at any level...poor free throw shooter at this point..can be corrected especially with a player with his form.

Checkraiser- These are the current starting point guards in the NBA. Besides a couple..

Jason Kidd
Kenny Anderson
Eric Snow
Darrell Armstrong
Rod Strickland
Chris Whitney
Mark Jackson
Chucky Atkins
Sam Cassell
Baron Davis
Jamaal Tinsley
Alvin Williams
Jason Terry
Andre Miller
Travis Best
Steve Nash
Tony Parker
Chauncy Billups
John Stockton
Steve Francis
Tim Hardaway
Jason Williams
Mike Bibby
Lindsey Hunter
Damon Stoudamire
Gary Payton
Jeff McInnis
Stephon Marbury
Gilbert Arenas

Sorry, but there are only a handful of point guards that have a significant size or height advantage over Williams. Naturally he will go through growing pains learning to play against top flight NBA point guards. But saying he will have to go against 'bigger' players on a nightly basis isn't necessarily true. I liken him to Marbury, as both are very strong physically, can get to the basket almost at will, have plus range on their jumpshot, but Williams has his head on straighter and I expect him to be more of a team player rather than a selfish player like Marbury is.

A lot of this discussion is opinion based on both sides whether Williams star status pans out in the NBA is questionable and could take 1 to 5 years before we really get an answer. I personally don't believe he's the best player in the nation, in fact I have doubts about him being the best all around at his position. Again this is all debateable but thats what truly makes these forums so entertaining. By the way at the 1 guard D. Wagner, S Blake,D. Dickau,C Butler,J Gardner, T Ford are all very good and Williams may be a better scorer than most of these guys but as all around players very little separates the best players.
Coincidentally under coach K his top guards haven't panned out in the NBA as highly touted as they were. A couple cases are Ammaker who was an average at best nba player,J Dawkins who was probably the best of the bunch, B Hurley,Q Snider, T Langndon, P Henderson all average at best.Coincidence, probably, strange, definately.Either way eventually we'll find out.
By the way I like Oregon to handle Texas tonight, as well as Maryland, KU, and So Ill. what is your take on Oregon tonight if you have one?
