Dual MMA events in a fight-filled night at betED.com

There?s a big Mixed Martial Arts battle brewing this weekend, and the main event may not be in the ring as two MMA organizations go head-to-head.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold UFC Fight Night 14 on Saturday in Las Vegas, the same night Affliction puts on its inaugural card, Banned, in Anaheim.

And both feature highly anticipated main events: At UFC Fight Night, Anderson Silva battles James (The Sandman) Irvin at The Palms in Las Vegas (Spike TV, 9 pm ET), while Fedor Emelianenko squares off with Tim Sylvia in Banned at the Honda Center in Anaheim (PPV, 9 pm ET).

Silva (21-4) is moving up to the light heavyweight division to take on Irvin (14-4).

betED.com MMA Betting Odds have Silva as a huge -600 favorite, with Irvin a +400 underdog.

Undercard bouts include Frank Edgar fighting Hermes Franca, with Edgar a -150 favorite, and Brandon Vera an overwhelming -500 favorite against Reese Andy.

For Affliction: Banned, some MMA observers are calling the Emelianenko-Sylvia bout one of the greatest heavyweight battles in the history of MMA fighting.

Emelianenko (27-1) is a -400 favorite at betED.com, with Sylvia (24-4) a +300 underdog.

Emelianenko, though, has fought just six times in the past three years and twice in the past 15 months. He hasn?t faced a legitimate heavyweight contender since taking on Mark Hunt in PRIDE: Shockwave 2006 on New Year?s Eve 2006.

But he beat current UFC Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira twice before that, and shut down Mirko Cro Cop, as well.

Undercard fights include Josh Barnett as a -375 favorite over Pedro Rizzo, and Aleksander Emelianenko a -350 favorite against Paul Buentello.
