I would recommend a Sony. Lower end model should run in the low to mid 200's.

What type of sound system do you have? Do you have a home theatre surround sound type system. If so, make sure you get a dvd player with DTS sound.

I agree with EMJ32. Get one with DTS because it is an awesome alternative to Dolby Digital. Not all movies come DTS ready, but the ones that do are incredible. I have a Toshiba and would not trade it. Thinking about buying another one. You can get it for about $200 and it will be worth the few extra dollars.

I've got a buddy in the record industry who recently gave me some DTS audio Compact Discs. The sound is amazing!!! The selection of discs recorded in this format is limited. However, I've been crankin Roxanne by The Police in 5 speaker DTS sound and you won't believe the how good this tune sounds!!!!

The CD's are actually played through your DVD player. You must hear for yourself.

Are they gonna start producing all or most cd's in DTS? Can you currently buy any at Best Buy or anywhere else? I've been imagining how good it must sound. I've got those Bose cube speakers, and they put out sounds like none other. I've got to check that out.

I checked with my buddy and he indicated that producing a CD in DTS is more costly. The selection is limited and will probably remain limited until more people hear the sound and request the format.

As for availability, suggest you call around to find out which stores in your area carry them. Let me know what ya think when you get a listen.
