I know it is not Memorial Day just yet, however I thought I would take time to thank everyone and anyone that has ever done a part in serving our country. Serving in the military is often a service that is taken for granted.

Please do me a favor and take a second of your day to pay respect to those who deserve it.

Thanks,

JT

It was along time ago for me. For all those past and present. Thks & Thks.
Yes J T, in 60 & 61. Nothing special. Just served as many did back then because it seemed like right thing to do. We talked about getting ready for Cuba back then. It almost happened.

I had two heroes when I was growing up. Mickey Mantle and a guy in my class. This guy was tough as nails but never picked on a soul. He joined the marines and died in Vietnam on a voluntary patrol mission with just weeks left on his tour. I don't think I am ever at a football game and hear the Star Spangled Banner that I don't think of him. He was more a man at 18 than most people could ever dream of.
I am a Vietnam veteran too(no hero) and its nice to know people still have a sense of honor for those that have served.

Thanks for the thoughts and thanks Mr. JT, it really does mean sumthin.

I am currently serving time, and as i was sitting on the back porch the other day i realized just how lucky i was.

For all you fellas (and Mama) out there with kids closing in on high school graduation day i would urge you to get em thinkin about the military. (especially with today's market place woes)

If anyone would like, I woudl be more than willing to give you the skinny on the story of my illustrious 8 year career thus far and I am damn near positive it will get them thinkin about joining up!

Dogs-
Was with a marine air group at Chu Lai. From December 68 to October 69. All branches were at Chu Lai. Army, Navy, etc.
By the way, I have two "dogs that bark". The neighborhood hears them at 6am.

Utmost respect for all the forces that protect this country. I have heavy thoughts every Memorial Day.

Very appropriate topic.

Not knocking the new generation because I am a part of it, but I don't think most of us understand exactly what people sacrificed in war time. During the Gulf War, because of television/media, everyone in America was pretty updated on at least the story that the goverment wanted us to see.

My mom lost her fiancee in Vietnam, and she has told me stories about how everyone was always on pins and needles dreading the day to get notification about a loved one.

I guess this is my way of saying thanks to the veterans and current men and women serving our country.

Thanks for your personal sacrifice.
