Does anyone have any encouraging words to
throw my way, I'm in the golf business and
we are getting raked over the coals with lack
of play, business, $$$...I guess my question
is...is this short term or long term, because
if it's long term, we're all going down....

For what it's worth, I work for a computer consulting firm and as most businesses, we have struggled this year with layoffs, pay cuts, and the like. From the looks of our business and the way things are going, I really don't see the economy improving much for another 6 months. I think by mid-2002, we'll see a turnaround for the better. Then again, I'm no expert so who the heck knows. One thing we know is that the economy will thrive again. Nothing lasts forever. Timing is mere speculation. Just my 2 cents. Hopefully it's sooner than later.

Billy,

I heard that the events of 9/11 affected ONE-THIRD of the GLOBAL economy.

I'm a locomotive engineer. I worked one day in September and haven't had a day's work on the railroad since.

i think it is short term, but the defination of short time is cloudy as the drought could last another year before the turn around is truly fealt in your realm of things.

it's pretty strange how different industries are affected by the economy. i work in insurance and have to say we have fealt no ill effects and actually the exact opposite. insurance company rate increases (which are as sure nowadays as death, taxes and fixes

) equal 'raises' for us and the fact that all companies need to trim costs equals more activity for us.

i gotta imagine the insurance/healthcare fields are still golfing just not much of any else. i hope things turn around for you or you are at least able to supplement by 'earning' from the man.
