Elite XC Le VS. Shamrock 3/29/08

I picked up Cung Le at +180 and his line now stands at +155 so I feel like I did something right..

Le says his goal is to keep it standing "just like Chuck Liddell" throughout, and im just not sure Shamrock can ground him.. ive watched him for a while now and ive only seen him taken down once or twice in his San Shou fights..

Not as excited as I was now that Jake Shields had to pull out and they Xed nick diaz from the card as well...:shrug:

ashamed a decent card basically fell apart...i have shamrock in a couple parlays.....

i`ll be curious to see if le can do to shamrock what he does to the peripheral guys....

if he does,than he`s a legit star...

thank god this fight`s still on..

yea, and thank god drew fickett made weight... he was originally scheduled to take on shields at 170 and had to drop to 155 to take on nick d's scheduled opponent.

the main event should be a good one, still... and i guess maybe the gil melendez fight..?? i just got showtime to watch these shows and the card falls apart.. who woulda thunk it?? just my luck..

what happened to all the mma guys?....i guess this card has been so diluted that it`s not drawing much interest....akin turning on the lights and sending the roaches scurrying for some dark corner...

honestly,i was really looking forward to fickett/shields...shields is a very bad mofo....

i`d love to see shields and the "new and improved" carlos condit throw down....or even nick diaz....

ultimate fight night this week...that`ll draw `em out...florian/lauzon and parisyan/alves are damned good fights...

got to go with Shamrock here but odds suck. Last time i saw Cung lee the announcers made him the next coming of Bruce Lee. Will Shamrock carry him to be the next big thing? Only time i ever saw a rigged fight was in this organization. I got to go with the experience here. Shamrock by knockout

i`m dumbfounded that shamrock was so full of himself....so fricking cocky...that he thought with a mediocre stand-up game(3 k.o.`s in 24 wins)he could beat cung le at his forte....

i`m actually glad he lost...i don`t think for a second that his arm is we he quit.....it was those head kicks at the end of the 3rd....you could see he was on queer street...

shamrock`s an idiot... he stood at the perfect distance for le the whole fight and never even tried to take him down.....even when he had him hurt along the ropes,he didn`t do what he does best...

...you can`t handicap stupid...at least i sure can`t...:shrug:

and yes......it is amazing with all the training these guys do, you'd think some of them would smarten up:shrug: If the guy your fighting isn't good on the ground.....take him to the ground (or vise versa) :shrug:


Doesn't matter what the sport is....why play to someones strength:shrug:

Done messing with this organization. Was the fight fix im not sure. did i just watch a guy with mega experience over the other guy fight the dumbest fight in MMA history? Possibly. In the UFC you don't get an announcer hyping matches like the WWE. (this is the greatest card in the history of MMA blah fuking blah) You don't get Experience fighters fighting another guy with five wins and basically fighting his fight. Who knows what happen here. That poor excuse of a sling Shamrock had on his arm at the end of the fight was laughable. You got all three announcers giving the first round to Bruce Lee and then you have to ask yourself what will happen to next.

I don't think the fix was in Sponge; its just as has already been mentioned here--Shamrock is a cocky dumbphuk that isn't nearly as good now(or in the past) as he thinks he is.
I agree with the wease; I don't think that Frank's arm was that bad, he just got KTFO and wasn't about to go out for the 4th and go to sleep for real with another kick or six to his empty head.
And I always forget about how unbelievably BAD showtime's announcers are until the card starts. Then its mute the sound and sit back and enjoy the fights...

i thought the arm was a little suspect as well... u can never tell with the shamrock family.:shrug:

if its any consolation cung le said that he was shown the x-ray of shamrock's arm with a clear break right where he kicked the wrist at the end of that 3rd round :142smilie ... who knows, maybe this fight was meant to set up a donk fest between frank and ken. :mj10:

shields vs. fickett will be a good one in june.
