I thought the show was so so and I hated the fact that the Kimbo fight was the main fight but say what you want it has been all over the place since Saturday night. Everything I watch and listen to they bring up MMA. Any news is good news when you're trying to get the branding out there.

for those of us familiar with mma,it sucked.....

Well, in my opinion Gary Shaw did the right thing by putting on entertaining matchups BUT that douchebag ref Miragliota really did stop 3 fights early (Rogers fight, Villasenor fight and Kimbo fight- although I do think the same outcome would have happened moments later) and the other 2 GREAT fights getting the doctor stoppages left alot to be desired.
BUT I do gotta say that as an up-and-coming promotion I do like how they are trying to do something.
This card was maybe a solid B on paper (matchups, hype, names) but ended up being a C+ based on the final outcome. Could've been better but it did decent for the first time on network TV.
Thats just my opinion. And I actually do want to see more of Kimbo in the future. He showed alot of heart, humbleness and a willingness to learn the game. Im becoming a fan but I do realize his limitations. He actually started looking into MMA when he got beat by Gannon in that streetfight and even went up to train with Joe Lauzon shortly afterwards. The guy really wants to be a better fighter and that shows guts.
And I'm always a James Thompson fan. He showed great heart, a decent chin by his standards (who woulda thought?), and a good gameplan. Maybe there is hope for him.

it was a disgrace to all MMA fighters, period. I guarantee that there are probably 20-30 real heavyweights that wouldn't mind kicking the hell out of the lazy no cardio training thug if given the chance, alas they will never get it because Kimbo is the only drawing card that idiotic XC has to offer.
Kimbo Slice as your main event? Gimme a break. BJ Penn and Sean Sherk is a main card. Rampage and Iceman maybe, if Liddell can get the straw out of his nose long enough to train.

FDC, I agree with you but you have to think about it from a business standpoint. The guys you named are from the biggest brand name in MMA and that brand has spent millions promoting them. The other MMA orgs have struggled to make money because of a lack of fan base. Do you really think Elite thinks that the Kimbo fight was going to be the best one or was it the one that could draw the most viewers to their brand so they could market it?
People are bagging on Kimbo but like Bas says, there's nobody that works harder. You can say what you want but at least he's not some talent rich guy who's throwing away a great career because he doesn't train hard.

Wasn't that bad in my opinion on the fight front. The presentation of it SUCKED like all EliteXC cards.
Smokin Joe is a quality fighter. Lawler is solid.
NO WAY are their 20-30 heavyweights better than Kimbo even though he does suck, he still ranks around 10-12 best.
As for him being the best EliteXC has to offer: NO WAY AGAIN. Cung Le is a way better fighter and Frank Shamrock brings it. Kimbo has the biggest interest among none MMA fans.
Liddell is getting old and now has a bad hamstring keeping him out until 2009.
I hate idiot reporters like the guy on Yahoo saying this was a setback for MMA. All the true MMA fans are not going anywhere and if others have not come over yet, then they had little interest in watching anyway.

Kick, I'm pretty sure he said he was one of the top 10-12 heavy weights not all of MMA. I doubt he's that high but there aren't many good heavyweights so you never know.

Is Kimbo really all hype? I've seen him before and he has a lot of drive and power. He does have a shot at winning this one. I'm backing him hoping that all the buzz about him doesn't end up going to his head.
Not to sure im sold on this power. I saw a guy with a glass jaw take his shots pretty well. Who has he knocked out that this claim of power is legitimized? Please don't say Tank Abbott. Just because he has big arms doesn't mean he has big power. He hit Glass Joe in the chin about three or four times and nothing happen.

Now that WEC card was phenominal. I would have loved that to be on CBS.
Anyone have thoughts on Munoz fight? I took a tip and got him -225. He started out a bit shakey against the Kongo look alike, but his wrestling is world class. Waiting to see him against a shorter opponent to see how his stand up really is. Tough to guage against a guy a solid foot taller than him that had decent stand up. Munoz is someone to look out for in future.

While I agree Lawler is a legitimate fighter I do not believe that XC has many more that are actually not using it as an avenue to get to the UFC. As far as him being the 10-12th best heavyweight that is ludicrous.
