Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia (24-4) and longtime PRIDE title-holder Fedor Emelianenko (27-1) have agreed to fight on July 19, most likely at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The news was first reported by Sherdog.com, which learned of the fight from Emelianenko. According to the report, the event will likely be promoted by Affliction in partnership with HDNet Fights.

Affliction is a popular MMA clothing brand that recently made known its intentions of entering the fight-promotion business.

Sylvia, a longtime UFC fighter who only recently split from the organization, signed a non-exclusive deal with Adrenaline MMA, an organization (formerly known as M-1 Global) that is run bu his agent, Monte Cox. Sylvia had one fight remaining on his UFC contract, but the organization opted to let him out of the deal.

Upon his split from the UFC, the 32-year-old Miletich fighter issued a warning and told Emelianenko he wanted to fight him.

Emelianenko, who recently severed all ties with M-1 Global (after it was learned he never actually signed with the organization in the first place), remains one of the sport's most accomplished fighters.

The 32-year-old held the PRIDE Fighting Championships' heavyweight belt for more than four years before the organization's eventual demise this past summer. Although he's defeated some of the most notable fighters in the sport, he's fought few (if any) top-tier guys in recent years. He last fought in December at the Yarennoka! New Year's Eve 2007 show, where he defeated 7-foot-2 Hong Man Choi with a first-round armbar.

Should be a helluva PPV draw. I don't get HDNET around here. I know some locals that got it and I'll be trying my best to get to see this.
Bucks between us HDNET is worth the price of the whole DTV package put together. I love it.

I am sure that over-rated piece of garbage Fedor will have about 50 rules that Sylvia must adhere to...such as:

-Must fight in a ring.

-Must pay Fedor 3 million dollars to walk into the ring and another 89 miliion for Fedor to have his ass wiped with 6 ply toilet paper imported from Russia.

-Sylvia only allowed one punch per round and he must tell Fedor when and where it is going to land.

then Fedor will agree to the fight:mj07:

Fedor is a disgrace to MMA and yes he WAS respected and damn good at one time. Now he fights Tim Sylvia, 99% of MMA fans can't stand Sylvia. Fedor always finds a way I tell ya....fight nobody for 100 years then, and only then fight Sylvia! He'll probably beat Sylvia and then fight once a year against pieces of crap and collect more money. I love MMA but Fedor enrages me. I hate guys that live in the past and duck opponents. He's a disgrace to the sport and though I respect what he's done for MMA I despise what he has become. I can't believe I am going to say this.....but I will actually be cheering for Sylvia:scared

Hope it is in a cage so Sylvia has a shot.....Fedor should kill Sylvia, but I will be laughing my ass off if he loses to Tim. That would be priceless, but one thing has been displayed. We now know that many of the Pride guys were highly over-rated and in all honesty nowhere close to the UFC so I guess anything can happen and Tim could win. Great for Sylvia he'll actually have some fans cheering for him:scared

Hell yeah, I can tell you I will be there. I don't care how much tickets cost. Hopefully they'll stack this card.

yep....kind of crazy....there will actually be a lot of fans cheering for Sylvia:scared :scared

Tim isn't going to know what the heck is going on, they will announce his name....and cheers will be heard, he won't know what the hell is going on:mj07:

and FWIW....I don't know how any person can actually be cheering for Fedor.....if Fedor fought any other guy in the Top 10 nobody would be cheering for him (unless it was in Japan).

I hate Tim, but not as much as Fedor, at least Tim steps into the octagon and fights decent competition:SIB

And man oh man I hope this fight is in a cage....ya know Fedor will do whatever it takes to get it in a ring.

Sylvia shmylvia... the fact is there are only two heavyweights in the world that matter right now: Emelianenko and Couture. :SIB these guys are in another dimension right now and they both know it.

Fedor will absolutely be the fan favorite if he does fight Sylvia... i dont see how anyone could actually want to see Sylvia win.. an awkward former steroid user who still cant defend basic submissions after almost ten years in the game.. a win for sylvia would mean we have to see even more of him in the future... :mj10:

And FYI, Fedor openly requested another match w/ Nogueira just a couple months ago after Dana White made derogatory remarks towards him... no counter statements were made by White, but why would he allow the UFCs reigning champ Nogueira likely go 0-3 against Fedor. :nono:

Well Raw...have to 100% disagree with ya......I hate both guys, but I have 1% respect for Sylvia, at least he fights. Fedor has turned into a joke. Guy is all about money, and ducks fights, and lives in the past. How anyone can cheer for Fedor is beyond me. Yes, cheering for Sylvia is a tough task, but how could anyone possibley cheer for Fedor is beyond me:shrug:

He should walk through Sylvia especially if it is in a ring.......but it will be super funny seeing guys in the crowd actually cheering for Tim:scared

Amazing how things work....I will actually be cheering for Tim, that's nuts:scared

Fedor requesting 2 million per fight plus 1 million win bonus and 4 fights guarenteed from Elite/Strikeforce pretty much sums up everything. Fights a bunch of jokers and then demands more money then any other mma fighter makes me laugh...how could ya cheer for someone like that:nono:

I think Fedor subs him easily.

And then if Fedor gets a shot at Randy I'm pretty sure it will be the biggest bet I've ever made in my life(all depending on line of course). I think Randy is about as over valued as someone can be right now.

I gotta roll with Raw on this one. Fedor fans are like, well, you when it comes to GSP. If you go over to the Sherdog forums, you'd just laugh yourself into a coma. It's unreal how much they're all over him.

People LOVE Fedor, and no matter what, until he loses, it won't change.

Two guys that I hate but I am looking forward to the fight that's for sure.....also hope it is in a cage:SIB
