Outright plays (2 units unless stated):

Gil Morgan to win 12/1 e.w. @ NetBetSports
Morgan has an excellent record in this event besides being a winner in 2000 and looks set to continue his improved form against a weak field this week. He has finished 3rd and 7th in his last two events and should at least match those performances this week.

Doug Tewell to win 20/1 e.w. @ Centrebet
Considerably higher odds than elsewhere, so can't be ignored, particularly with a player who has already won this season. 1st on Tour in driving accuracy and 2nd only to the absent Tom Kite in greens in regulation, Tewell looks a class player in this field. Importantly, does have course experience with a top-20 finish in 2000.

Gary McCord to win 20/1 e.w. @ Surrey or NetBetSports
The week's break should have done him good. After a very strong opening to the season, his finishing position worsened every week until the break. Happily, his course form reads the other way with all three finishes in the top-20 but he has improved each year to finish a high of 6th last year. Refreshed, he should contend this week.

1 unit place only @ SIA
Jay Sigel 25/1

I know he's not done much of late and getting up there in years just really liked his swing in elements 2 weeks back.Great tempo into a gale.I think he may be on way back to recover and taking a shot @ some nice odds.

Nobody of interest has emerged out of Monday qualifying, so...

John Jacobs has been highlighted quite often in this forum, and hif form this year has surprised me...he is not the most accurate, but if this is a true links-style course, he may be able to blast it far enough to stay out of trouble...25/1 Surrey

If not, a more straight and narrow player;

Bob Gilder 20/1 NBS (6 places) Thankfully unable to pip Quigley a couple of weeks ago, obviously in good form and was ok on his only visit here

Sammy Rachels 66/1 - decent third division player, Surrey, the sharpest senior book have him at 40, so a fair price, although the 50 at NetBet with 6 places may be the likeliest route to the payout window

Others to note; Morgan at 12 is worth a look...couldn't back Quigley at that price, though. Will be watching Wayne Levi quite carefully as he has started his senior career in promising manner.

Matchup play:

Jose Maria Canizares to beat Ben Crenshaw -120 @ Five Dimes [4 units]
Crenshaw has hardly made the Senior Tour debut other had hoped for him. His four starts have yielded finishes of 43rd, 64th, 32nd and 24th which is not particularly impressive in this company. Against a player who finished 4th on this course last year, his lack of course experience is decisive. Canizares played poorly in the cold, windy Toshiba Classic, but the two-week rest should benefit and he did finish 4th in the Audi Senior Classic only a month ago.

First attempt on the Seniors... could start stiffing a few for you regular winners.

Taking a little 20/1 Bob Gilder at 1/5 first 6 at netbetsports.
Twice a winner last year and a passable 16th here. Finished 2nd last time out (5th fortnight before). The last time he finished 2nd he won next time out in the 2001 Tour Championship.

Clive,
Early stages... looks as though I have stiffed Gilder for you +2 after 8 (Discards doing much better!... including your iron man)

Poor Davis...
(We call him "Davis there's something wrong in his head Love")
Must admit I give him a wide berth now... but I forgive him everything as when it mattered most he delivered .... Kapalua 1997 (cross the card double with Calcavecchia in the Sarazen).

Final update:

Matchups: 0-0-1; +0.00 units

Canizares/Crenshaw LOST by 3

Outrights: 1-2; +0.00 units

Morgan 31st
Tewell 2nd
McCord 64th

Bad weather cancelled the final round with the final pairing having just eight holes to complete. With the forecast being sunny for tomorrow and next week's event also in Florida, why couldn't they complete the tournament tomorrow??? Canizares had closed to within a shot of Crenshaw and Tewell was two shots behind Eichelberger who hasn't even had a top-3 finish since 1999. What might have been

Senior PGA Tour ytd
Matchups: 7-4; +5.57 units
Outrights: 7-13; +50.25 units

Updated after the no action on the Canizares play

their rules do state

"Golf events must go a minimum of 54 holes and be completed within 7 days of the scheduled conclusion of the event for tournament match-ups and futures to have action."

It doesn't say anything about a 3 day event so this should still be binding.....I think:shrug:

As McEnroe used to say.... "You cannot be serious"... first venture into round belly world and what a shocker...

Bob the builder's roof (and walls) fell in....

Someone wins whose name I can hardly pronounce...

Even more worringly the 3rd round is wiped when the leaders are past half-way....

But it could have been worse.... if Quigley had been handed the event under such circumstances.... I had given myself a severe telling off for not supporting him instead when he was lst round leader (winner previous week and past winner here)

Oh well.... at least I've lost my cherry and am now just a young apprentice on a path to future riches....
