Football bets

Southampton can start to show their excellent home form on their travels and are a massive price at around 12-5 to win at Middlesbrough.

Blackburn can inflict more misery on Sunderland with a win at the Stadium Of Light at around 8-5 while Leeds look a good price at 15-8 to collect all three points at Manchester City.

In Division One, Ipswich are on a roll at the moment and can continue creeping up towards the play-offs with a win at Burnley, which pays around 6-4.

Gillingham had a huge confidence booster when beating Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup and look great value at 5-2 to win at Derby.

Crystal Palace have put together an unbeaten run of six league games and look good value at BestPrice 11-8 to make it seven when they visit an inconsistent Bradford side on Saturday.
City may have won their last two games, but they have suffered three heavy home defeats in the past two months and are still very much in a relegation battle. Palace's good form has coincided with the enforced switch of Tommy Black from the wing to a central attacking role, and he has responded with nine goals in nine games.

Recommended bets:

Six singles: Southampton (12-5), Blackburn (8-5), Leeds (15-8), Ipswich (6-4), Gillingham (5-2), Crystal Palace (11/8).

All bets are at 1.5 points

GL BB

Here's what I've got...

English Premier League plays:

Bolton have lost just 3 of 10 home matches this season - 2 very early in the season v Charlton and Liverpool and one v Leeds last month. In the past 8 games they've shown they'll fight hard v releagtion with home draws v Chelsea and Blackburn and a 4-3 win v Newcastle, along with an away point at Everton. They get talismanic attacking midfielder Youri Djorkaeff back for this match while Fulham's injury problems continue with Steve Marlet out. Fulham are just one place above Bolton after a recent slump, taking just 4 pts from their last 6 league games and have one just once away this season.

PLAY BOLTON 0:0 (1 unit)

Charlton have won on their last 2 trips to Stamford Bridge and are on an 8-match unbeaten run. Manager Alan Curbishley's biggest problem is who to leave out of his attacking formation amongst Euell, Lisbie, Bartlett, Jensen and Johansson. Chelsea are still in the Cup but saw premiership title dreams fade after losses to Arsenal and Leeds away and will be without Melchiot and Stanic.

PLAY CHARLTON 0:1 (1 unit)

Said I would fade Sunderland later this season; no time like the present after three away defeats. Yes, they're back home but they still have at least 6 first-choice players out with injury and are well short on class. Blackburn will be bolstered by strong showing in both Cups over the past week, haven't lost in the league in the past 4 games, get Damien Duff back for this (to replace David Dunn) and have an outstanding keeper in Brad Friedel, With a draw a push I'll take the visitors.

PLAY BLACKBURN 0:0 (1 unit)

Can Lee Bowyer revive West Ham's fortunes? Could be an inspired signing if Roeder can get his mind on the game; his power and aggression in midfield should complement Cole, Carrick and Sinclair nicely. Hammers still have big problems up front but 3 consecutive draws have raised spirits. Big key here is Alan Shearer being suspended for Newcastle (Gary Speed out too and doubts over Andy O'Brien and Kieron Dyer), who have won just twice away in the league this season and conceded 22 goals in 10 road trips.

PLAY WEST HAM 0:0 (1 unit)

Totals Plays:

Chelsea/Charlton under 2.5 $1.92 (1)
Liverpool/Aston Villa over 2.5 $2.18 (1)

GL all :)

WEEKEND RESULTS

Middlesborough v. SOUTHAMPTON 2-2
Sunderland v. BLACKBURN 0-0
Manchester City v. LEEDS UTD 2-1
Burnley v. IPSWICH 1-1
Derby County v. GILLINGHAM 1-1
Bradford v. CRYSTAL PALACE postponed

Well what can I say, one no-result, one loss and four draws. Perhaps I should start to think of playing the Asian Lines as draws are void or loss of 1/2 stake.

What is annoying more than anything that in three of the games the selections were winning only for those three games to finish as a draw and all the goals against us in the games were penalty's.

It has been a dissappointing weekend and one that I will have to look closely at. Sorry to all those who played but as in sports you have to accept the lows to appreciate the highs.

Chin up Derek mate....we have all had days like these where nothing goes right, and everything conspires against you. It is part of this game, as I am sure you already know.

Take the lessons from this week, and let it make you bounce back strong for next weeks games. :)

sunday:

ARSENAL 1.67 , oh yes, i see value even in Ars -1 2.50 !

Gunners have scored only three goals in their last three
away games. so far they have averaged 1.70 goals away
and 2.05 goals over all / game. so they have some catch up
to do !

Good luck guys in all your plays.

Thanks for all your kind words of in-couragement.

I'm not to down, and as crooky says we all have these kind of days. I accept this as there's been occassions when I've won through last minute goals or against the run of play.
