This Friday starts the season with Atlas and Tessitore. No lines so far of course, but there will be, no doubt. Starting to cap from the schedule on at least on fight; Howard Davis' son, a super middle is on the card. My absolute favorite boxing series. Hope to see lunch, Mr. Z, Dec 26, Evan, thongster, buck,jTorrance and everyone else back HERE!!!!

ESPN FNF 1/6/ 2012

ESPN FNF 1/6/ 2012

Play: Martinez+115(over Douglin). Also Lopez has value in the Davis affair at +185. I just have a feeling Davis is "supposed" to win. Haven't pulled the trigger there yet, if at all. Lopez did hang tough 10 rounds with a half shot Pavlik. Other than that he has been in with tomato cans.

Lines at Palms...

Lines at Palms...

Well, no surprise at all, no lines at the Palms book, the casino hosting these fights. They won't hang up any numbers until the day before. No balls. Actually these are in Cali. The Palms is hosting Rigon/Ramos on the 20th. My bad. Still no lines anyway!

Hi Gents,

Hope we all have good start into the new year.

My current plays are Dyah Davis that should win propably by dec and maybe add small on Beltran as he seems to be the only "life dog" this weekend.

And as allways some draw plays as we have some close fights this weekend.

Cheers
LotL :toast:

Btw. Michael Perez vs Omar Figueroa should be a thoght fight so maybe the under offers some value... but both guys are thogut fighter so hmmm what do you think?

Both of these cards, FNF and the Showtime one are not easy calls. Line on Martinez/Douglin has been flip flopping back and forth all week. Seems Martinez though has been installed as the solid favorite now. As I said, I think Davis will win a close decision, as he seems to be the "expected" one to take this. I'm staying away on the total on Perez/Figueroa as anything can happen in that one also. Guess we should be thankful for some intrigue!

@frank
I agree Beltran over 7.5 looks like decent parlay material to me!

GOOD! Also line on Dyah Davis dropping like its hot, and line on Martinez shooting up. Opened +115; now -160! Davis was as high as -245 at times. Lots of different opinions all around. Also like Ramos-280 by decision, but no props to be had, so have to bet it SU.

Ramos by dec looks decent, as the is the figther of the promoter of the card Golden Boy, but as mentioned before I think his oponent is a very life underdog... should be close so if it goes to the cards Ramos may have a litte advantage... :0corn

Tried my luck tonight. Dyah Davis -185 and the under 9.5 at +260. Reading quotes from Davis it appears he is intent on knocking out Lopez. Lopez doesn't look to good, don't see why he couldn't get him out of there if he applies himself.

For the showtime bouts took the underdog in both fights, more on Raymundo. Figueroa probably outclassed in the opening fight but he looks like he has a real warrior spirit, I think Perez will need to show something to get the victory. Main event I just think the line is a little much for Ramos but I guess he has the advantages outside of the ring so maybe the line makes sense.

Results

Davis by clear dec
Douglin by a very close split dec
Figureora by round 7 retirement

Luis Ramos Jr. by UD, that seems to be a great gift to him. 97-93, 97-93, 96-94
Propably B. should have won or draw, according to the comments I have seen.

Until so far no big suprise...

Cheers

Well Figueroa was a 3-1+ underdog so a bit of a surprise there, at least betting wise. Don't know the deal with Perez, just seemed to quit on his stool there. Fight was being edged by Figueroa on pure pressure/determination. Figueroa a real crowd pleasing type of fighter, moves forward and lets his hands go. Anyways good action fight.

Watched the first 8 rounds of the Ramos/Beltran fight and looking at the final scores they seem pretty accurate in accordance to what I saw in the first 8 rounds. Ramos with the quicker hands just beating Beltran to the punch at times. Another decent fight though as there was good action again between two game fighters. I actually turned in two rounds early because I felt Beltran had little hope of winning (bet on Beltran).

Dyah Davis/Alfonso Lopez is already a strong contender for worst main event of the year. The fight started out with 2+ minutes of literally no punches thrown, and it didn't get to much better as the fight progressed. Davis a bit more skilled and aggressive (relatively speaking) and was able to catch Lopez from time to time on his countless forays running in after trying to pop shot Davis. Its as if Hopkins had trained Lopez, brutal stuff to watch. Just a bunch of feinting and holding throughout the "fight". Alfonso Lopez should never be on tv again, just dances around on the outside before picking his spot to run into his opponent and hug him. I cannot put into words how horrible this fight was. What the matchmakers for FNF were thinking/drinking putting together this bout who knows.

Other FNF contest between Douglin and Martinez was a tight affair. I though Martinez would get the decision with his harder shots and generally cleaner work but it was close. Neither guy looks like future world class material.

Will spent a few bugs on Dakota Stone tonight... I have a feeling it will be by far closer then the +1200 line is showing... but will it work out... I think all depends on if this fight is not a kinda retirement fight as she is already above the 40 yrs line.

:popcorn2

What would boxing be without the refs closing the deal no matter what^^

What would boxing be without the refs closing the deal no matter what^^

Hanna Gabriel scored a controversial eighth round stoppage of Dakota Stone when referee Geno Rodriguez inexplicably waved the bout off with Stone in no trouble...

Read some comments and rbr and nobody understood why the fight was stopped.

Anyway I dont know if Stone would have gotten a decision as the fight was in "Hanna?s city" and she was doing good so far; but I think the ref just wanted to close the deal and make 100% sure the "right result" would come out
