On the radio they are talking about NBA ref Donaghy's friends going to jail for using the inside info to win.

I guess my question is, if a friend of yours called and said that he knew one team would win, lose ,go over or under would you bet on it? Before I heard these guys got prison time I think I would have said yeah, but now I don't know. I think one or two games and I would, if I knew it would be a ton I might stay away. It's really hard to say without ever being in that situation.

Well.....I should be in jail then:com:

Also....in the USA aren't there more deserving people that should be in jail:shrug: I mean "betting on inside info" isn't exactly rape, murder, or child molestation now is it:SIB

I'd say that's about as unethical as it gets. If you make the bet, you are engaging in fixing games. You are just as guilty as the guy who is on the field/court determining the outcome of the game.

Basically, you are stealing money. I hate books as much as anyone, but I hate thieves too.

I used to play a lot more online poker and had a couple guys at work who did too. One guy was serious when he asked, how about we get on the same table and collude. He said, we won't do it much just a little.

No way can I do that. I'll take any edge I can get, but not going to fix a game or cheat.

hell yes I would bet the game if I knew the outcome before the game started, no doubt. I would do the same thing with a stock. Of course I am ruthless and very selfish

I would never take a friend's word on a game.

Sweet child in time
You see the lines
Lines drawn between
Good and bad
See the blind mind
Shooting at the world
Bullets flying
Taking toll
If you've been bad
Lord, I bet you have
And you've not been hit
By flying lead
You better close your eyes
Bow your head
Wait for the ricochet

What I'm saying is, if you know your friend who is giving you this information is fixing a game or knows someone who is fixing a game, then that's the same as fixing the game yourself. You are cheating and should go to jail.

Now, if you are friends with someone who is playing and you know more info than everyone else, that might be a different matter. If you know half the team got food poisoning last night and Vegas doesn't....that's not your fault. The team is going to try to win, you just know they aren't 100%...
