Europe solid favorite in Ryder Cup

The European contingent is a solid favorite for the Ryder Cup that begins Friday from Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. BroburySports.com is once again the leader with more odds and props than anywhere else.

Europe is a solid -150 favorite to win under captain Colin Montgomerie. The United State is +140 under the leadership of Corey Pavin. A tie is an unlikely scenario at +1200.

The Americans had a surprising win at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky back in 2008. The Europeans won five of the six previous tournaments and haven?t lost on their soil since 1993.

10 of the 12 players from the European side have played at this course before, many with success. That gives them a big advantage, but they also have a deeper set of golfers even if the Ryder Cup was played at a neutral site.

Top Overall Scorer

Woods and McIlroy have already had a war of words, which used to be mean sure doom for whoever was facing Woods. Note that only the top-15 golfers are listed below.

Tiger Woods (+800), Rory McIlroy (+1000), Steve Stricker (+1100), Lee Westwood (+1200), Martin Kaymer (+1200), Phil Mickelson (+1200), Dustin Johnson (+1500), Graeme McDowell (+1500), Ian Poulter (+1500), Jim Furyk (+1500), Luke Donald (+1500), Edoardo Molinari (+2000), Hunter Mahan (+2000), Matt Kuchar (+2000) and Padraig Harrington (+2000).

Top U.S. Golfer

Woods is still the leader here despite all his problems this year. Stricker is a somewhat surprising favorite over Mickelson.

Tiger Woods (+450), Steve Stricker (+550), Phil Mickelson (+600), Dustin Johnson (+800), Jim Furyk (+800), Hunter Mahan (+1000), Matt Kuchar (+1000), Stewart Cink (+1200), Zach Johnson (+1200), Rickie Fowler (+1500), Bubba Watson (+2500) and Jeff Overton (+2500)

Top European Golfer

The 21-year-old McIlroy will become a European legend if he plays well and his team wins. Harrington has fallen quite a bit since his two consecutive major titles in 2008.

Rory McIlroy (+500), Lee Westwood (+600), Martin Kaymer (+600), Graeme McDowell (+700), Ian Poulter (+800), Luke Donald (+800), Padraig Harrington (+1000), Edoardo Molinari (+1200), Francesco Molinari (+1200), Ross Fisher (+1200), Miguel Angel Jimenez (+2000) and Peter Hanson (+2500)
