Too bad the lawyers couldn't have gotten more for the hot coffee they were serving...would have rather seen them get the $$

Too bad the government can't tax corporations more...would have rather seen the gov't put the 1.5 billion to good use

Too bad so sad.....charities thrive when businesses prosper

I'm only surprised that you would be for this freeze. Based on previous comments I would think that this kind of money going to an organization that gives "hand-outs" to those in need would go against your very doctrine.

It seems selfish of the old bag to try and redistribute her wealth to those in need when if she would have just invested her money in more McDonald's, think of all the jobs that would have been provided so the poor could help themselves out.

She probably was shortsighted enough to think that creating hospices and food shelters was more productive to our country then building some bombs or satelitte defense mechanisms which is where most of the 1.5 billion would have gone if it had gone to the government instead of the charity of her choice.

thats where you big government relyers don't understand conservatives....classic example of your limited view of things

we believe that charities are best supported through private funding....NOT the government...

government is expected to provide for my defense...so yes, lets get more satellites up there

More satellites for sure. I feel safer already.

How many charities would survive without government meddling through the tax deductions that you get for charitable contributions?

I'm not a government relyer, just a provider.

well for one, those "deductions" are not the governments $$ as far as I am concerned....they are individuals' $$....its pretty much a lower amount that you can choose for the government to not plunder from you

practically speaking....which $$ do you think makes more of an impact in society....private donations to charities or government handouts?

if you, Bob, were given 10 Grand lets say in a time of need to make something of yourself....woudl you be more motivated if a generous man/woman gave it to you -- knowing that person had made a decision to invest in you; or if you were fed a handout from the government because you felt entitled to it....

think about that and get back to me

Go Bobby go!!!

Classic line by Quacker Freeze (in reference to Bobby Blue Chip) "...your limited view of things."

Has to be one of the funniest things I ever read at this site.

doc,

I don't think it would matter to me where the money came from, it would be used in the same manner. I've never received any money that I didn't think that I was entitled to.

In your classes, there's probably people there who have their parents paying for it, those who have received loans, and those who have received government grants. Do you think anyone doesn't feel entitled to the education that their getting?
