i notice that when i use disk defragmenter my computer runs much better for about a week.....

i pull up the disk defragmenter doohickey and and it asks me...

1)"run on a schedule"(recommeded)...which i have checked...

2)"run at 1:00 am every thursday"( from such and such a date)..this is what i want...

3)"last run"(gives me a date)....

HERE`S THE KICKER...4)"next scheduled run": never...

anybody know how to change this "never"setting?.....driving me crazy....

much appreciate any help...

much appreciate the help,guys...found the answer in some geek forum....

it was that g.d.`ed norton/symantec...god,i hate norton......

"""I had the same problem. Norton must disable it in Task scheduler. This is how I fixed it in Windows Vista:

1. Open Task Scheduler (click OK if you get an account not valid error message. I don't yet know what this error is about, so I just ignore it for now).

2. In the left pane, click the arrow next to Task Scheduler Library.

3. Click the arrow next to Microsoft.

4. Click the arrow next to Windows.

5. Click the Defrag folder.

6. In the top section of the middle pane check to see if Defrag shows as disabled. If it does, right click on it to bring up a menu then select enable.

This worked for me. I hope it works for you.""""

worked like a fricking champ....:weed:

Anytime there is a computer post about some kind of problem...........someone............inevitably........says............

"Hey - Get malware bytes. It works."

Since I didn't see it here - thought I would help out.

Also - get a mac.

What do you mean "buzzing"?

like a static sound.....it`s coming out of the speakers....not sure if it`s the computer,or something to do with the speaker connection.....

i have to admit...now that i got the defrag operation running, this p.o.s. is running much smoother...
