Admittedly, Viro's post makes one wonder why, if he receives daily mail from Factsman, he did not pose his question as return email rather than in this forum.
For those of us who have made a lot of money by merely following Factsman's picks the past ten days, the point is moot. Read his posts, decide whether or not to play the picks and be quiet.
No one here is a "babe inthe woods" who will suddenly swoon--or be stunned if FM decides to try to become a pay service. And, if he were to prove his mettle over a period of some months or years, there might actually be some who would pay. 'Cappers like Eric, Ray, Wayne and others have put money in our pockets--and continue to do so even after they have set up pay services. It will take quite a while before Factsman can go that route without generating a lot of enmity and scorn.
But, until something goes wrong, why on earth promote bad feelings??
For a guy on a hot run, FM's post are almost . . . moderate. Could some of us be jealous of the attention and the "views?" Naaahh--maybe a little--but I do understand the desire to protect the followers and blind coattailers from lemming-like demise.
Let's just continue to thank him for his work and skill and take the book's money. I personally once posted 17 straight CFB winners on the now defunct "Eddie's Page"--my usual percentage on my own picks runs in the low 30% range--anyone who followed previous or subsequent picks of mine is now standing on a corner somewhere playing a guitar badly and asking for spare change. During that bizarre streak, I actually wondered if I could ever charge for my wonderful picks. (Instead, I later bought a lot of computers and engaged a small troup of monkeys who took some time but eventually wrote the now famous "War and Peace.")
Factsman, your reasoning, facts, and your record speak for themselves. Have fun, ignore the bashers, pick 65% winners for a few months and then there'll be no detractors for the rest of your career.
Thanks
J
P.S. Remember that Schilling is a money loser on the road. Take a look at the dogs today: Myers, Seo, Capuano, Borkowski, Batista, Robertson and Rogers. Clemens par'd to Mulder will pay a little, too.
