Chandler is looking like he did a few years back when they made it all the way to the Superbowl. He actually has the 2nd best QB rating in the entire league, right behind Favre. Atlanta has won the last three meetings from the Patriots, outscoring them by a whopping 105-27 margin. The Falcons lead the all-time series, 6-3.
Atlanta will be looking to build on the momentum of a surprising win, posting a 20-13 victory at New Orleans two weeks ago. Chandler paced Atlanta in the win, throwing for 187 yards and two touchdowns.
The Patriots don't have quite the experience at the quarterback position with Tom Brady, who will be making his sixth straight start in place of injured Drew Bledsoe. Brady has led the Pats to a 2-3 record and hadn't thrown an interception till last week's game against Denver. He has been doing a surprisingly good job for a rookie QB. However, Brady threw FOUR interceptions last week against the Broncos, losing by nine.
The Patsies have played a total of four games on the road this year, coming away with only 1 victory. That win came at the hands of the Colts, whose defensive unit is one of the worst in the league. This will be the third straight road game for New England.
The Falcons are 3-3 on the season, with two of those losses going into Overtime. They are coming in off a surprising win against the Saints in the Superdome. Last week the Falcs had a bye week, so they should be well rested and primed to give the Pats a good ole-fashioned assss whippin'.
The Falcons also get back Tony Martin, who had been on the injured list with a broken collarbone the last four games.
Two of the Falcon's losses have come against San Fran. Falcon's most devastating loss came at the hands of the Bears. Chandler had two interceptions and actually continued to play with a concussion, that team officials did not recognize.
Reeves has stated that Chandler and Vick will not be rotating in and out of the offense, like the last few games. Reeves has stated that they will only use Vick in certain situations. In my opinion, this will benefit Chandler in a very big way, and he should get most of his confidence back. He will no longer have to worry about getting yanked, b/c of some bad offensive plays.
With the resurgence of Chandler, Atlanta's team speed, and a little home cookin', Atlanta looks to be in a good situation to come away with the win. Only area where they are lacking, is their pretty piss poor pass defense. I was glad to see Reeves make some changes in the backfield, and it should really help the team in pass coverage defense. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Falcon's home crowd get Brady rattled, causing some stupid rookie mistakes....
