The suspect in custody for the slaying of Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller was a member of an anti-government group in the 1990s and a staunch opponent of abortion.

Scott P. Roeder, 51, of Merriam, Kan., a Kansas City suburb, was arrested on Interstate 35 near Gardner in suburban Johnson County, Kan., about three hours after the shooting. Tiller was shot to death around 10 a.m. inside Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita.

In the rear window of the 1993 blue Ford Taurus that he was driving was a red rose, a symbol often used by abortion opponents. On the rear of his car was a Christian fish symbol with the word "Jesus" inside.

Those who know Roeder said he believed that killing abortion doctors was an act of justifiable homicide.

I know the guy that killed him has a mental illness, so he needs to be locked up and killed too, but to excuse the execution doctor for killing babies in my book is stupid

Hedge, is what he is doing against the law? If not, you have a right to your opinion, but it is currently not the law of the land. And I think this continues to point out a kind of hypocrisy when it comes to the right to life issue, but I know you think you're opinion - although not backed up by law - is the only RIGHT way to look at things, and therefore justifies the murder of someone else.

You make no sense. At least stand up for the killer. He followed through with his convictions. Rather than just bitch and moan and call everyone scum, he did something. He sacrificed his freedom and probably his life for a cause he believes in. I have more respect for that killer than you. Man there are alot of nuts out there with guns. THen they listen to folks like O,Rilley & Beck who call people killers with out having a clue about what was happing. The guy provided a service with in the law for women in need. G D right wing extreemest.
