On the course!
I got a copy of Windows2000 from a co-worker, and loaded it into my computer and finally got my computer off of "safe mode", after about 3 months! The porn never looked so good!

The bad news? I am pretty sure that I lost everything I had saved on my computer for the last 5 years!

yyz,

Before you do anything else drastic to your computer, try to consult with me first.

If you would have done the repair instead of the reinstall you would still have all of your files, porn included!

Well, atleast you got it working again. :)

What I do is run more than one hard drive. I use my primary for my OS and have 3 other hard drives for my data and backups. You might want to get a primary salve and use that for your data. Hard drive are pretty inexpensive and keep your data safe from OS failures. Just a thought for what it's worth.:)

IIRC, when you do the install there is an option whether or not to format the HD. If you didn't format the HD all of your data should still be there. Granted none of the apps will work if they require registration with the new .dll's but that's the case anytime you reinstall windoze. But all data files (i.e word docs, images etc) should be there. One thing also since you are starting from scratch with a new OS, go out and buy an external zip drive and back you sh*t up on a regular schedule. I had to learn the hard way, it wasn't a virus or anything but a hard drive failure, sometimes they just go bad. Anyway I lost 2 f**kin years of data because of it, which equates into alot of stuff that I needed, I had about 1/2 of it backup up on another system so it was not a complete loss, but I was getting hammered for the stuff that I did not back up, needless to say it was alot of late nights rewriting code.........I learned my lesson, the zip drive is the best $100 I have spent in a long time.

The only thing that pissed me off, was losing the ease to float around in my computer. I knew whre everyting was.

The other biggie, was losing my 2000+ song library from Napster, et al.

Dial up? What century do you think this is?

:D

Thanks for the offer, but I will get the stuff I really wanted back. I love to search for it, so it won't be that much of a headache.

Thanks again.
