IMHO it's open source which allows many folks to develop features etc. Tabbed browsing does it for me also for you who are using it add the following for better performance:

about:config in browser
network.http.pipelining - true
network.http.proxy.pipelining - true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests- 30

add a new value:
right click -> new -> integer nglayout.initialpaint.delay - 0
