According to a report on UFC.com, Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell has torn his right hamstring and has been forced out of a scheduled fight with Rashad Evans at UFC 85. The fight between Liddell and Evans was previously set to headline the event, which takes place June 7 at the 02 Arena in London, England.

According to the report, the UFC will improve the fight card in multiple ways in the wake of the withdrawal of one of the UFC's biggest stars. The organization will soon be announcing a new main event to replace Evans vs. Liddell, and will fill out the event with even more fights than normal, a reported thirteen. This would give the card the most fights of any UFC event in the last ten years.

In the report, UFC President Dana White went on record to reassure the fans, saying "We're adding fights to the card and rearranging it so the UK fans won't have to worry, we'll still be bringing an amazing card to London and the O2 Arena. The UFC always delivers."

For further details, including a nasty photo of Liddell's injured leg, check out the full report on UFC.com.

Before his own injury, Liddell was originally slated to face Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the bout, but the former PRIDE star had to pull out himself due to a knee injury.

this is really bad news... i thought Liddell would have no problem with Evans and get another shot at Rampage around the New Years Eve card. :(

I actually think the Evans fight would've been a very intriguing matchup.

There are still some noteable things going on this card.

I want to see Marcus Davis get a shot at one of the top guys. I really like the tools that this guy has.

I also wanna see how Kampmann returns to form against a very tough guy in Jorge Rivera.

I also wanna see my 2nd favorite fighter, "THE TRUUUUUUTH!!!" get back to his old form. He was thrown to the wolves by facing Sylvia in his first fight having not fought in damn near a year. However, I expect him to return in a big way against Werdum.

That looks a bad tear. From a liftime of following and playing Soccer, players that suffer bad hamstring tears almost always suffer the same recurring injuries. Hope Chuck makes a full recovery though he is at a bad age for an injury like that.

i was looking forward to the matchup... it's just that i thought Liddell wouldve taken it no problem.

Rashad hasnt faced anyone near Liddell's skill level... and Liddell has to have supreme confidence right now after his victory over Wanderlei. Liddell has been flawless against wrestlers for the most part due to his supreme takedown defense (see Kevin Randleman, Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture 2 & 3).... it goes without saying that Liddell's standup/KO power is on another level than that of Tito and Bisping, both of whom Evans struggled against. just my two cents.

they r saying Liddell/Evans will still go down sometime later in the year, so im wondering who they'll throw in to fill the shoes of this bout... if this happened a few weeks ago i think they could have made the Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta happen... i dunno...?? maybe koscheck vs. somebody would be fun.... or Tyson Griffin/Manny Gamburyan....?? or Thiago Alves/Marcus Davis rematch...??

Apparently now the UFC wants to add a few bouts to the card.

I think what they could do is bring someone(a fight) from 86 to add to the card. That would give them ample time to find a good replacement for 86.

yea, this a good idea... but it seems UFC 86 is still in the works... the card is looking sort of lackluster right now IMO other than Jackson/Griffin.

UFC 86 so far:

Rampage vs. Forrest Griffin
Joe Stevenson vs. Gleison Tibau
Frank Mir vs. Justin McCully
Melvin Guillard vs. somebody i cant remember

a lot of names still out there, though... just looks like 86 isnt complete, so maybe whoever they had in the works for UFC 86 can slide down an event... UFC 85 is quickly approaching so i hope they figure it out quick!! seems like some of the guys UFC has under contract are getting picky with their matchups.. thats whats great about Liddell -- he'll take on anybody.

This hamstring, is literally the worst tear of a hammy that I've ever seen.

Guys, tearing a hammy is a life changing injury. One of my good friends was as athletic as you can think of when in high school. However, he tore his hammy his junior year, and he's 25yrs old now. The guy moves like he's 65 years old now.

you sure you aren`t thinking of an achilles tendon?...that`s a career threatening injury....i tore the same hammy twice and i always came back....

granted,it feels like you`ve been shot when it happens...it takes awhile to heal......and you are susceptible to recurrence...

but,if you warm up and you don`t have to run hard(which you don`t in mma) you`re fine after a decent convalescence...

it`s not like chuck is slapping leg locks on everybody...

the back of my leg turned completely black and blue both times ....i was hobbled badly for awhile, but it healed fine.......ice it...wrap it tight and apply heat every day down the line...

he`ll be back...no problem...

i don't like james irvin. i really hope rashad whoops his ass. i like rashad for some reason.

irvin is 3-0 in the UFC, and he'd be 2-1 at best maybe even 1-2 if it weren't for a lucky punch and a lucky DQ when he was getting thumped.
