First Season Head Coaches - Just A Thought

I do not have the answer but was wondering if anyone is aware the last time a 'first season' Head Coach won the Superbowl. By first season I mean new coach/ new franchise; so include Gruden.

Was Siefert in 1995? If so, other than him.

My gut feeling is that there are not too many - which may provide an alternate view when looking at Raiders and Bucs.

Barry Switzer the Cowboys???? Not sure if he was in his 1st or 2nd year when they won.

Switzer if memory serves me correct was 94/95 - 96; Cowboys won in 96 under Switzer.

i just saw on sportscenter that it has only happened 3 times. i think they said siefert in 1989 was the last to do it.

Thanks txag - I thought Walsh was at the helm in 1989 - had not appreciated how long Siefert was at the 49'ers.

Do you know who the succesful rookie was before Siefert?
