although I dont live in NYC I go in there quite a bit......depends on where you're staying, if it's in midtown which it probably is (near times square etc) then you can hit up espn zone they probably will have it or loads of other places, can look at some directories if have a better idea of where you'll be.......enjoy shea and yankee stadiums, although old and not pretty astetically (sp?) good fans and good experience seeing good teams, enjoy your trip, this is a nice time of the year to go, this or september/october

sounds like some fun you are about to have. if you are looking for some good sports bars that euros hang out in , i would head downtown into the village, up and down bleeker street and off of that is popular among brits and other europeans.
you can waltz around the east village and gramercy on third avenue.....again, popular places where you'll see all different types of people.
there is a pub called nevada smith's on 3rd avenue and around 11th, euros working the door, bar and all they show is soccer, futbol, rugby and baseball when the rest is playing.
uptown is ok, but not as good as atmosphere......
enjoy

good points, I didnt realize he was a soccer fan, in that case yeah gramercy, east village and chelsea would probably be better in the low 20s and 11th like you said, theyll be lots of different types of people there and more creative atmosphere, lot of gays etc but you should find a good sports bar there for what you're looking for, midtown is probably more generic mets and yankee games and golf than soccer but you'll find somewhere guaranteed

When I last stayed in New York I stayed in th SoHo area. However, I did go to Times Square for a visit. I also went to the ESPN zone. What a crowded zoo, I would never step foot place again, and I happen to like the ESPN Zones in Vegas, DC, and Baltimore. I thought the SoHo bars were much nicer and did not like the crowded downtown areas.
