I'm just starting to get into NBA this year, placed my first real bets last night. Going light on the $$ still.
Two picks I like tonight. Neither is a best bet, but both are solid I think. Both have already been hit offshore unfortunately, so I'd suggest getting them in early, especially the 2nd one.
NJ +4? - My numbers say Utah's troubles continue. Utah has actually faced some fairly weak competition lately but still hasn't fared well. Utah has yet to beat a team with a winning record. NJ coming off a tough OT loss @ Denver 2 nights ago (nothing to be ashamed about, Den is a tough place to win), and now after going up against two tough opponents get a soft spot here.
Sac -7? - Supposedly this line opened up at -4 somewhere, but I have no idea where (or what the linemaker was thinking). I won't be going against Sac at home too often unless they are giving a LOT of points. Sac have won their home games by margins of 6, 20, 9, 34 and 36. Granted some of those teams were not powerhouses, but it's still impressive and the Kings are playing good ball right now. Portland played hard til the end last night but still came up short. Sac has shown a tendency to pounce on teams early this year, and if that's the case I don't see the Blazers fighting their way back in it on tired legs.
