Fitch vs. Penn highlights MMA Odds for UFC 127

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the land down under with Jon Fitch and B.J. Penn clashing in a welterweight bout, the main event at UFC 127 on Saturday in Sydney.

This bout has much significance as UFC president Dana White said two weeks ago the winner would be considered the top welterweight contender.

MMA Odds at betED.com
have Fitch as a -200 favorite and Penn a +160 underdog.

Penn (16-7-1) has won both the UFC Lightweight Championship and UFC Welterweight Championship, making him one of only two fighters in UFC history to win titles in two different weight classes. Penn, who is coming off a first-round KO victory over Matt Hughes at UFC 123, has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

After losing to Georges St. Pierre, Fitch (21-3) has literally fought his way back into title contention, winning five straight bouts. All five were by unanimous decision.

Another big fight Saturday has Michael Bisping against Jorge Rivera in a middleweight bout, considered the co-main event.

Bisping is a -325 favorite and Rivera a +250 dog in UFC 127 Odds at betED.com.

Bisping, who established himself by winning season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter as a light heavyweight, did not lose a UFC fight until UFC 78 against another Ultimate Fighter winner, Rashad Evans, in a split decision. Since moving to middleweight, Bisping is 6-2.

Rivera, 39, is an MMA veteran and has been in the UFC since his debut at UFC 44 in 2003. He is 19-7 and has won three straight.
