Anyone stayed at Fitzgeralds in Vegas? Is it a real dump? or worth spending couple hundreds more to stay at golden nugget or the orleans?

I stayed there once. Everything was comped - RFB - and I was only a $25 player on the tables. However, it was 5 years ago.

I can tell you that, if you are used to the Nuggett and comparable hotels there, you will be very unhappy at Fitzgeralds. It is very much no frills. If you are "used" to those type of places, then by all means stay there. You probably won't spend much time in the room anyway.

Then again, if you are taking the wife, I doubt that she will like it there. I'm guessing most women wouldn't been keen on FG.

If you are traveling within the next week to Vegas, you might want to call the hotel and check the current rates. Could be that you can adjust your rate.

The hotels around town are getting scores of cancellations due to the winter storm passing through the Northeastern states right now. As the rooms open up the prices drop. There will be plenty of suites in which to upgrade.;)

I love staying at the old places downtown, but the others are right, after you've been to some of the newer joints, Fitzgerald's will seem a little dumpy.

btw the best air and hotel package for vegas go to vegas.com. Its run by U.S. Air. The reason I ask for opinion of the condition of Fitzgeralds is that I plan to go to vegas in mid-May for 4 nights and 5 days and round-trip for Atlanta to Vegas and staying at Fitzgeralds for $410 tax included or $150 more for Golden Nugget.

Picture makes my decision for me...I'm spending $150 more and staying at the Orleans for the second week of WSOP. Walking distance at daytime (I think) or short taxi to Rio. Planning to play WSOP event #16 for sure and probably event 19 (omaha hi/lo and pot limit omaha). Anybody playing those events, look me up!

The orleans is not walking distance to any other casino I can tell you that.

I stayed across the street from the orleans last year at the extended stay. They do have a shuttle to take you to the strip area if you want.

Vegas Baby !!
Definately don't want to walk to the Rio from The Orleans. If you wanted to be close to the Rio, and stay in a less expensive joint, you shoulda checked the Gold Coast !!

PS........The Fitz is a toilet !!
