Bure leaves game with broken teeth and a headache

November 19, 2001

TORONTO (AP) -- Pavel Bure left Florida's game against Toronto on Monday night with some broken teeth and a headache after a check in the first period.

The Panthers' forward was checked sideways into the boards by Toronto's Darcy Tucker late in the first period. Bure did not return.

Tucker hit Bure cleanly with full force and was not penalized.

But the Panthers got some revenge in the second period, when defenseman Brad Ference pummeled Tucker with a flurry of punches.

Florida's Jason Wiemer then elbowed Tucker with the butt end of his stick in the third period. Tucker laid motionless on the ice for five minutes and was helped off the ice. Weimer received a five-minute penalty for elbowing and a game misconduct.

Definitely a lot of hitting at the end of this one, Worrell fought Domi and the game got a little crazy.
