The highly anticipated July 18 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez has been postponed due to a rib injury sustained by Mayweather while training. The mega-fight was scheduled to take place at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View. ?I am extremely disappointed that this fight has to be postponed. I was training very hard and looking forward to getting back in the ring on July 18th,? said Mayweather. ?I was very disappointed to hear the news about the fight being postponed,? said Marquez from his training camp in Mexico. ?I will remain focused, in shape and ready to fight whenever the fight is rescheduled for.? Information about rescheduling the fight will be made available as soon as possible.

I read somewhere that Floyd had injured his ribs initially at the wrestling show he did. Now he has re-injured them sparring.

Does not say when it will be scheduled.

Floyd has been ducking top fighters that will challenge him for so many years. Its hard to believe he got away with it.

I also read that Floyd gambles his ass off in Vegas and needs big money fights to cover some losses.

Is it possible he could be that stupid ?

With his ego its probably true blood. Who could stop him in a casino once he got obsessed ?

What happened, did that 500 pound dude fall on him during rehearsal or something?

How smart is it to disclose a rib injury against a sharp puncher like Marquez ?

Unless...

Smart if it is his knee that he hurt. Not sure he is that smart but then again the way his career has gone he looks pretty smart. He fights smart. If the reports are true and he needs money, then this might be worse then Tyson.

Heard some rumblings that ticket sales not so good and could be rescheduled for Mexican Independence day in September... Vegas in mid July isn't exactly the placed to be. Just speculation, maybe Floyd is hurt.

It was cartilage damage in the ribs of Floyd Mayweather Jr. that KO?d the July 18 showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez. A September date is now being considered, pending Mayweather?s recovery.

I'm hearing The Shins "Phantom Limb" playing in my head. Why risk a fight with anyone else when the biggest $ bout is with Pacquiao?
I guess we'll know what's what if the fight really is rescheduled. Or not.
