I know there was a thread before but asking again. I never get the flu and never got the shot before. I have been told that you get the flu the first time you get the shot. With all this flu shit breaking out and people dying and flying in a germ infested plane to Vegas I'm thinking I should get one. Thoughts? Not to mention I'm 62 now.

Well, I know up here, they guessed wrong at what flu we would have this season. That means the shots they gave everyone were useless. We have a huge outbreak this season.

That tells me, usually, the shot works.

As for flying? You are always in a Petri dish. In all seriousness, wear a hospital mask. Plus, take some medicine before you board. Cold Eze, or something like that.

My Dr. said this years shot hasn't been effective against this years strain. Also, I believe the shot takes 2 weeks to take full effect.

It's nearly automatic I get a head cold when I return from Vegas but never the flu. It's either the plane or all the germs from handling chips. I think I'll carry some of that hand shit to keep rubbing on my hands and make sure I don't go rubbing my eyes at all when I'm there. I'd feel stupid wearing a surgical mask but it's better than getting sick. Christ!

So I should just forget about getting it this year.

I would skip the shiot.

Don't get mad, but you probably get sick because of the lifestyle you live out there. Everyone thinks Vegas has more germs than any place else! LOL!

You can't pound drinks, smoke, and sleep 3 hours a day. You said you are bringing your family with you this time out, so I would think you probably be behaving a little better. You should be fine.

Where it is real F ing COLD
I would recommend not getting the flu shot before a trip but would normally recommend..

Here is what happens, you get injected with a dead virus, your body still makes a response to that dead virus leaving your immune system weakened to other foreign bacteria or virus. So people say the flu shot made them sick, it wasn't what was injected it something else that was able to get in cause you were compromised. So you might come down with something else if you get the flu shot

Up here the 2 hospitals are full of flu patients. The vaccine was only 10 % effective and seems like they always get this wrong but 1 year they are going to be dead on, This vaccine is made to stop some severe strains that they THINK will be common. If they get it right you will be happy you took it.

Wife and I got back from Vegas last time and got deathly ill. This time.......taking two Airborne chewable tablets in the morning and two in the evening which we started yesterday a week away from traveling. Gonna try and remember to take them the entire trip to Vegas. Every snot slinger in Vegas touches the chips and machines, people coughing all over the damn place...... That's my solution this trip, will see how it goes :0008
