I thought this was going to be a great thing for college football and a lot of fun but to me this process has proved to be a joke. No way in hell does Fla State deserve to be moved down to 4. They're defending champs and until someone beats them they're #1 in my book. I know they haven't blown teams out but they've won. How many times do we talk about how hard it is to repeat and the reason is because of focus. I guess it doesn't matter if they're 1 or 4, as long as they're in but it still make no sense to me at all. Everyone is saying Baylor is screwed because of their non conference schedule and it's costing them spots. We what the hell is up with Florida States spot then. They played Okie State, ND and Florida in non conference games. Anyone else play 3 non conference games like that? Yet they stayed up for every game enough to win.

I'm ok with Bama and really think they're one of the best 2. Also ok with Oregon, just not sure where they should be placed.

I do have a major issue with TCU and Baylor. IMO nothing is more important than head to head. Spare me the TCU was kicking their ass all game. No they weren't. They were up by 3 after 1 and still up by 3 after 2. Were up by 7 after 3(hardly kicking someone's ass) and then got outscored in the money quarter by 10. Baylor made a ton of mistakes in the game and still won. I strongly dislike both of these schools so this is as unbiased as it gets. "One True Champion" because of all our teams play each other. LOL yeah right.

Ohio State. Shouldn't even enter the conversation. They lost AT home to a horrible team. I could care less who was starting at QB. Don't give up 30+ at home to a team that couldn't score in regular time vs a bad team.

Next week will determine if it is failure or not.

FSU dropping makes no sense. they haven't lost a game how does that count against you?

Of course some games still need to be played in order for them to be final

I would think that if Baylor beats KS this weekend and FSU beats GA Tech then FSU moves to 3, Baylor to 4 and TCU is the odd man out.

Ohio St I completely agree with. That Va Tech blowout loss at home is pretty ugly on their resume.

Now what if Alabama loses. What happens then? A 2 loss team in and the other 1 loss teams are left out?

Agreed... FL St wins and in, lose and out!! Public opinion along with toooooooo many "just" wins. I disagree about Ohio St. They are not the same team that lost to Vtec early this season. Clearly a different team. But i do agree that this weekend's game vs Wisky will tell all. Win they should be in and lose def out!!!

Just to play Devil's Advocate here.

Let's say.

Oregon, Ohio St, Baylor, Alabama and FSU all lose. What happens then?

All hell breaks loose and the only team sitting in the cat birds seat is TCU which by the current rankings would be #1.

Ok, people act like teams don'tever drop in the polls for losing. It happens.

Baylor was ranked higher than TCU. Baylor won the game H2H. Baylor moved up a couple more spots in the rankings and TCU fell a few spots. Baylor then proceeded to lose to an unranked W Va team the next weekend while TCU beat a ranked OK St team. That is why Baylor fell behind TCU in the polls. Plain and simple.

So are you telling me H2H trumps the rest of the season or are you saying Baylor has done enough since their loss to overtake TCU?

Should Arizona have been ranked higher than Oregon in the first poll? Same situation.

One more game left to play. Ill let the season play out before listening to Baylor's argument.

So. Cal
here's a hypothetical.....

only top 6 ranked team to lose is Oregon

Arizona will have the best (at #2 ore) AND second best (neutral vs #2 ore) wins of ANY TEAM (tcu-Baylor-osu and even fsu).....they will have the highest sos..........is the comm going to tell me that a team from the #1 or #2 rated conf is going to miss the playoffs to a big-10 team that lost to va tech and is on their 3rd string qb and/or TWO big 12 teams????

ore has double revenge and is playing out of their mind....their healthier on the ol than they were the 1st time around but I think one of the rb's and c will miss the game......should be wet and rainy in santa clara Friday...kind of like it was in Eugene back in oct!

would love to win fri and see what happens Sat!

GJN, if Arizona were to win they wouldn't end up having the best wins because Oregon would drop in the rankings. Unless you want to use the rankings of the teams at the time they played. In that case I'm not sure who would have the best wins because I can't remember who all was rated what when they played.

Personally I would love to see Arizona win and be left out. I would also love for Ohio State to win and be left out. IMO that's the best scenario to push for a 8 team playoff so each conference gets their champ in. Sorry, man I'm not saying that to rub you wrong just want this thing to expand so all teams that should be included are included. It would put an end to conference bias by the committee.

Joe, I agree about letting the season play out. Let's say Baylor wins and wins in basically the same fashion your boys won in against KState. What do you say then? I know people go back to 08 and say OU went over UT when UT had beaten them but you don't hear many of them say Tech was also in that 1 loss mix and had beaten UT and that's what changed those dynamics. When it comes down to no games left, 2 teams with matching records then how is head to head not the most important thing? Our conference was supposed to be the true tell of who was the best because they all played each other.

For the record, I think if Baylor and TCU played 10 times it would probably be 5-5. TCUs D might be better but they're not good enough to stop Baylor and neither is Baylors. It would be a matter of mistakes and probably who had the ball last.

IFs and buts candy and nuts...

Seriously though, Baylor has to win Saturday in order to jump TCU in the polls. That's the bottom line.

My problem has been listening to people pretend Baylor didn't lose to W Va. I bring it up and either I'm told "61-58" or "Well, TCU struggled with W Va too". I've never disputed either statement. Doesn't change the fact that Baylor lost to an unranked team. Couple that with the weak non-conference games and that's why they are behind in the polls.

Joe, if Baylor wins do you think you all get passed?

I feel for you man. Your boys have had a great season and deserve to get to play in the playoffs. Would hurt to be left out.

really?

of the contenders

winning on the road vs #2 IS the best win of the year........no doubt about it (ore was #2 when they played and is #2 now)

winning on a neutral field vs #2 will likely be the 2nd best win of the year. (ore is #2 now)

if you want to say they wont be #2 after ore looses, fine....they will be 6th or so......still 2 better wins than most any team has on their resume......and they're from the 1st of 2nd best conf (pac-12) and 1st or 2nd best division on football (pac-12 south)

as for chaos.....sounds great.....too bad espn has a 10-12 year contract in place for a 4 team playoff....nothing will change until the 2020's no matter how much people yell and scream

btw...i agree that 5 conf champs + 3 at larges is better than 4.......until all power 5 conf title games have upsets and the 4th p5 team gets left out as an at-large .......this year it could have been...minn, az, mizzu, ga tech, say texas in a revamped b12 title game as your auto winners then 3 at large teams......will everyone love that????)

still say a 2 loss arizona has a better 13 game resume than a 1 loss ohio st, baylor AND tcu.....but that's just me.

Sorry, I should have stated it better but yeah that's exactly what I was meaning by that. I have friends that use both arguments. What they were ranked when they played and what they're ranked now.

No clue. Going to depend on all the results of the other games.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about how Ohio State got "BLOWN OUT" by Va Tech! Ohio State was driving for the tying score in the last minute of that game when Va Tech got a pick-6! Hardly a blow out!
I don't hear anybody talking about Ohio State going on the road to Michigan State and absolutely kicking their ass! Now they will play a pretty damn good Wisconsin team at a neutral site and if they win THAT game, they deserve a spot in the playoffs with only one loss! But that's only my opinion and like ass-holes, we've all got one!:moon:

Does the big 12 have any schools lined up to join the conference so there is a title game? Guess if they do, i was in a cave. I dont think ive heard anything of expanding in the immediate future......

Nope and if both TCU and Baylor get in, they won't ever think about it.
