Ball St. at N. Illinois (-6-) 8:00 ET ESPN2
4* N. Illinois

Never easy to go against Ball St. Under HC Lembo, the Cardinals are 20-9 ATS of late and, going further back, stand 27-9 ATS on the road. With triplets, QB Wenning, RB Edwards, and WR Sneed, this pass oriented offense has recorded a record of 9-1 SU, 6-0 SU in league play. Last Wednesday night, the Cards dominated C. Mich. in a 44-24 victory gaining a balanced 549 yards. That includes outrushing C. Mich. 250-113 with a +3 net TO margin. Yet, when the Chips scored late for the backdoor cover as +20- points, it resulted in an almost impossible situation that saw a double rusher (76% chance to cover) as a member of the 200 Club (78% chance to cover) with a +3 net TO margin (an 85% chance to cover) lose to the pointspread. Despite the excellence of the Ball St. record, preference here is for home standing N. Illinois who has won 24 consecutive games on this field. With former HCs Kill (Minnesota) and Doeren (NC St.) now departed, the Huskies have barely skipped a beat under HC Carey, the former OC. Maybe that is because NIU QB Lynch is running rampant over all opposition. Huskies are now 9-0 SU, 8-1 ATS including 5-0 SU in the league. As a result, this in all likelihood is for the division crown. But, the Hustkies, who were a BCS participant last year, have those same aspirations again this season. Meaning some style points are not out of the question. With the better balanced offense and slightly superior defense, let?s go with the traditional champ in a big game at home.

Miami, OH at Kent St. (-17-) 8:00 ET ESPNU
4* Miami, OH

Surely there was a college hoop game that would have a wider viewership than this battle of MAC have nots for ESPNU. Last year, Kent was 11-3 SU ATS with the Thunder and Lightning backfield of Archer and Durham, and the leadership of now departed current Purdue HC Hazell (how is that working out for you Darrell?). But a much less experienced Golden Flash team enters as a MAC ?have nots? on a 5 game losing streak with a record of 2-8 SU, 3-7 ATS. Lone league victory has been at W. Mich. by 18 points. Even against this bottom of the barrel Miami OH team, they do not deserve to be laying this kind of number. And the Red Hawks are that bad. The recent run is 5-16 ATS including 1-11 and 0-6 ATS as road dog. For the season, they are 0-9 SU, 1-8 ATS. The HC has been fired, the starting QB is done for the season, and the team averages under 11 PPG on offense. Stick with Ball St. vs. NIU on the deuce, or go find a college hoop game to watch.
