This comes up all the time in college football and I can't remember when I have heard what the correct interpretation of the rules would be. For those watching the Oklahoma-Bama game, on Alabama's clever fake field goal that went for a touchdown, the holder was obviously down on one knee with possession of the ball. He took the snap, they faked the field goal, and he ran in for a td. This is a common play in college football, yet I have always thought that in college football you are down when your knee touches. Is their an exception for this type of play or do officials just disregard the rule? Had no wager on the game, just interested because it happens several times every year.
