Could we have ever imagined that in the NBA in our generation that we would never even know or name a player starting for the Boston Celtics or Los Angeles Lakers for a regular season game on March 30, 2015? It is really sad how bad overall the NBA truly is. Makes it hard to watch, let alone, pay $150-$200 a piece for a decent ticket.

Here is the Laker lineup tonight....

Ryan Kelly
Tarik Black
Wesley Johnson
Jordan Clarkson
Wayne Ellington

and the storied Celtics for tonight....

Evan Turner
Marcus Smart
Avery Bradley
Tyler Zeller
Brandon Bass

I hear you...I think it might have more to do with our age than anything else......of course,i think the ages of Baylor/west/dom.wilkins/debuschere/willis reed/clyde frazier/Russell /unseld/havlichek/bob lanier/elvin hayes/kareem/magic/isiah Thomas/jordan and larry bird were better and somehow more fan friendly......

I mean,to me,that was the golden age of the nba.....but,I`m sure it`s all relative.....

I think one aspect that changed things a bit is player movement....guys seemed much more likely to stay with one team back then and players seemed more apt to become anchored in a particular community....maybe I`m even wrong about that(there are exceptions like tim Duncan)...it`s hard to be objective because I haven`t followed the nba in a very long time..

but the rivalries back then seemed so intense(and extended)...bird and magic from college to the pros...the old bullets and knicks rivalry...the hal greer/chet walker philly teams vs the celts and knicks...

I remember as a kid, before cable tv and access to all the new media sitting in the dining room listening to walt bellamy/jack marin/gus Johnson and the great earl the pearl Monroe go against willis reed/debuschere/clyde frazier and that great, funky old jump shot of dick Barnett for the knicks....I had to turn it down real low so my parents couldn`t hear it in the living room(in the old row houses, the living room and dining room were about 5 feet apart and there was only one radio..lol)........

it`s hard to say...I`m sure the younger guys will be saying the same thing in 30/40 years....

Irony that I am actually listening to the Lakers radio broadcast tonight. Funny that John Ireland and M. Thompson are trying to make it sound like a playoff game. Clarkson at least seems to be turning into a decent player.

NBA sucks right now, partly because of the one and done college players. Back in the day players stayed 4 years in college so you knew them for 4 years if they were good and then followed them in the NBA. I haven't watched one second of an NBA game this year, only long enough to change the channel, I have no interest at all.

^^^^Absolutely ^^^^

Often wondered what the problem was but will no more. You'll probably see at least 8 other names in starting line-ups next time Lakers/Celtics play.

22 Teams then vs. 30 now with 10 teams playing below .500 then and 17 teams playing under .500 now.

Average Salary in 1976 was $ 130,000

Average Salary in 2006 was $4,037,899

Kobe Bryant Salary in 2015 $23,500,000
