Time To make,
Please, this is a fine cathlolic institution. They really are a bad team.Everyone knows Hills leaving as soon as he gets an offer back to the pro's.His recruiting has bottomed out.And with all the controversy with Smush Parker in the draft really hurt his credibilty.Hill denies it but he did tell teams not to draft him because he was upset he was leaving school.
Manhattan is so much better then them. But it is a big rivalry game.I leaned with the Jaspers because there is so much emotion in this game.
But Fordham deserves what it gets.
In 1932 an 18 yr old kid who graduated No1 in his class at Teddy Roosevelt HS was given a full academic scholarship to Fordham. The High School is right across the street from the Univ.
But because of his nationality they gave the scholarship to the No2 person. This 18 yr old was never told that and when he went to register in August they informed him of the change.
The community in the Bronx and Mount Carmel church were enraged. It made the newspapers as the Jesuits were taken to task.Manhattan College got involved and offered this 18 yr old the scholarship.
Because of the bad press Fordham was getting they gave back the scholarship. But this kid told them to shove it.He would go learn with the Christian Brothers at Manhattan.
He graduated with honors in Education in 1936.Taught Italian and Spanish back at Teddy R HS until 1941.Became an intelligence officer in the Army and served in North Africa and the Italian invasion. On June 5th the day before D-Day he and Gen Clark's army marched into Rome.
In 1946 he joined the UN and worked there for 30 yrs.He went back to teaching after he retired. He passed away 3 yrs ago.
That 18 yr old was Box Sr.
So anytime Fordham gets pasted I know someone above who is just smiling. And tonite is one of those nites.

Good writeup Box!!

That was quite a generation of heroes!
Bear Sr. who also passed away 3 years ago at age 82 spent the better than 4 years all over Europe.........infantry.......in a private out a captain.....was in the occupation forces at Normandy at that time. Man did he have the war stories.......

By the way........CT looks to be really getting in shape........Dave Bike's SHU was just what they needed ........Gordon broke out with 30 + and Okafor is now a real scoring threat inside. With all the perimeter firepower they are gonna get real tough!
