He isn't "like all the other politicians" if this line from the article is true.:

Paul made over $157 million in earmark requests for FY 2011, one of only four House Republicans to request any earmarks.

His district pays their taxes.

Ron Paul can vote against the earmarks and still that will get overwhelmingly get shot down.

So he get's a piece of the pie for his district.

There certainly are a lot more abuses of earmarks than what Paul has done.

I just found it interesting.

Puts in earmarks and then votes no - if it passes, his people are happy - they get money in their state and get to say that their rep is a staunch fiscal conservative.
