so i had 3 charges on my bank statement
65 from kmart
265 from wal mart
95 from a gas station

all were done yesterday and posted to my account today

all were made in California and I was in Boston for a weekend wedding

My debit card was in my possession the whole time

Anybody know how this could have happened or have it happen to them?

Same thing happened to me. Also had charges in California. Virus in my computer. Taking my CC info, changing my passwords etc. Virus program did not pick up but a more aggressive anti-virus located it and removed it. You most likely have one on your system and when you keyed in cc info to make purchases online, they saw it. If you've been in porn sites recently, thats most likely where you picked it up.

well it was a POS sale meaning it had to be a pin number or signature meaning it required that they had my debit card

But I had my debit card in my possession the whole time, so how could anyone have used it at a gas station or a walmart?

Greg - is your card the kind that is like "pay pass" as in you just hold it up to the scanner and it reads it without you having to swipe it? Or does it absolutely have to be swiped?

still baffled by how they knew my pin or zip code that they had to be prompted to enter

a little worrisome that it is that easy to do
