It would most certainly depend on the number, smoothie.
Using your 5 point line in football, I would want to lay less juice. 5 is not a statistical favorite, as far as differential in these games goes. You don't gain a whole lot by making the line 4' or 5'
On the other hand, running 4' down to 4 is better than getting 5% juice, IMO. You can do the same on other common numbers, as well.
You don't see many wins by 2,5,9,11, etc. where as you do see plenty by 1,3,4,6,7,8,10,12,13,14.........these kind of numbers make sense to take the half point. On the others, you would be better served to grab the savings on juice.
