heres what i found. assuming theres nothing more to it, seems like my first instinct was right. credit johnnyb for pointing this out. 3 fresno guys not gonna start. but this is an important early game for fresno. no way lopes jeopardizing a shot at a road win. most coaches dont have the balls to bench guys for more than a few media timeouts.

fresno st's own coach says his own team isnt tough??? what kind of message is that to send to your team..

So we come full circle to the significance of road victories.

Take into account, Lopes said, the perils of playing away from home. New environment and new bed. No fans and no help from the referees. The friction of travel and the friction of -- oh, yeah -- the game.

"It takes a certain level of toughness, and we're not tough enough now," Lopes said. "Are we good enough? Yeah. Do we have the pieces to the puzzle? Yeah. We're not there yet with toughness.

might be motivation but damn....
