Soderling looks to validate his run to the finals here last year with a return trip in 2010. He clearly is the favorite against Berdych who is making his maiden voyage to a Grand Slam semifinal. Soderling was brilliant against Federer, punishing him with huge shots and timely serves. He snuffed out any chance of a break by Roger with aces and has shown to be one of the most powerful men on tour. The big Swede's power was extraordinary as was his ability to keep his error count comparatively low.To hit so big, so often, was immensely impressive.
On the other hand, Soderling rarely faces a player who will be able to hit through him, like he has done to others this week. He forced Federer out of his game wit huge shots and never allowed Fed to hit the drop or lob, which had been so effective coming in. I think this could be a long battle and one stat favors Berdych above all others. He has won his last six five-set matches.
I was looking for value with Berdych in +games, or +sets and there is none. So I took Thomas to win.
Berdych +180
Also like Melzer +8.5 games agaianst Nadal. Melzer has a pretty big serve and that should keep things close.
