Gio gonzalez almost didn't even make the a's roster this year....he was one of the more wild pitchers last year at about 5 walks per 9 and the kid Matt Palmer had a record of 9-1 as a starter and with a lot to prove. Palmer already threw 2 innings of relief this year and is spot starting for the injured Kazmir.. If I were Palmer I would def want to throw my best to try to solidfy that starting spot.
