Vanished into vortex
If I may

If I may

I read most if not all the posts here in the penalty box and my friend you have got to lay off playing that heavy chalk, it is killing you. If this upsets you then accept my apology and quit reading, otherwise, look at your first two plays, god forbid you split those, even if you win the 3 unit play you are up only .42 units after putting 5 units in play and thats best case scenario if the plays split, of course I hope you get em all, but putting 9.47 units in play to win 6 is rough. This would explain why you are only 7 games under .500 but 37 units to the bad. Spend more time looking for a reason to play a dog, this is where I start every game, looking for a reason to take the dog, or lay the half goal if I am getting plus money for soing so. It's amazing what you will find when you are looking for the dog to win instead of "see if the favorite will cover", too many people have the latter attitude. It may not lead me to bet the dog, but it may sway me to a no bet on the favorite. Keep in mind if most of your losses are on favorites (and by reading your posts I think they are, could be wrong) then just think what your situation would be if you had the same exact record betting the dogs in those games, still 7 games under .500, but definatly in the black! I am not saying to never bet a favorite, but in your case I would give the dogs a bit more consideration. I bet on favorites every day, I am on St. Louis tonight with ya, but I bet my share of dogs as well, many nights for the service I work for I have been 1-1 gaining .2 units of profit, and to be honest that is not what people are paying for, but it's a hell of alot better than 1-1 -1.5 units and over the long run those small juice winning nights really add up.
A great example is my record at the pay site for the last month, you will have to take my word for this as I can't post a link to the results as per Jack's rules, so if you or anyone for that matter has a problem with me posting this record then by all means I will delete it, but it is a good example of what I am talking about:

25-17-3 59% +9.00 units with 3 2 unit plays at 2-1 for +2 units

Thats only 7 games over .500 and 9 units of profit, plenty of small dogs in their to make that happen. And I honestly don't think that 59% is out of anyones range when betting hockey, it's not as unpredictable as football in my opinion.
Hope you take my reply in the light it is meant and you give some consideration to those dogs.

As always good luck tonight, especially on St. Louis:D

Thanks for your insight penguinfan!:)

You are 100% right, unfortunately for me, this year most of my losses have come on my big plays, and my units this year reflect that.

I have never been much of a dog player, however, I have never been one for the heavy chalk ether. I normally try to keep my picks between +150 and less for my dog plays and no higher than -160 for chalk for the rest of my plays.

Last night DAL was a play I would normally pass on, but I felt very strongly about that game, so instead of passing(which I have done on many winning plays this year!;) ) I decided to not second guess my self(also something I've done a lot this year) and play it. It worked out this time(just barely!). Would I do this all the time, no.

Thanks to all!
