I hope you've been fading my PODs and playing my regular plays. Quite honestly I've been playing my regular plays for a lot more than my PODs until I can break out of my losing streak. I went 2-1 last night on regular plays with Tennessee-Martin losing somehow in OT after being up by 3+ in the final minutes.

Play of the day record now a miserable 12-13-2

Cornell +20

Penn is the class of the Ivy and Cornell is 0-11 away but look for the Big Red to stay within 20.

Penn is coming off two very tough Big Five wins over St. Joe's (last Saturday) and LaSalle (last Tuesday) and now they have to play two Ivy games within 24 hours. I think the starters will get some early rest tonight in anticipation of tomorrow's tougher game vs Columbia.

Cornell will probably try to slow the game down which will keep Penn from covering.

Regular plays:

Yale -6

Yale is too deep and too good on the boards for Dartmouth.

Brown +1.5

Brown wins this one su as Harvard is coming off a 20 day layoff and an upset win over Penn while Brown got out-hustled in a home loss vs Yale. Brown is the highest scoring team in the Ivy (82 ppg) and IMO is the #2 team in the Ivy behind Penn and I don't see them losing two league games in a row.

Columbia +9.5

I'm less confident on this one, but think the Lions might stay in this one for a while. The Tigers have gone back to their namesake defense and Columbia also plays a slow-paced game.
In their L5, Princeton's opponents have averaged 47.6 while Columbia's foes averaged 50.2.

IMO this should be a low-scoring game in which Columbia can stay within 9.5.

If anyone wants more detail on these games or my rationale please let me know. You can also check my earlier post on these games which may have a little more info.

Adding another regular play:

Rider -6

Rider is coming off a lackluster 6 point home win over St. Peter's last Sunday. I remember it well because Rider was my POD and the line was -15 or so.

Super Mario had a decent game but Rider couldn't hit a basket: 2-17 from the arc in the second half with guard Jerry Johnson 3-16 from the field for the game.

St. Peter's outhustled and outrebounded Rider.

Home has been no advantage for St. Peter's this season: at the Peacocks are 0-5 SU and 0-3 ATS.

I see Rider coming back and hitting their shots tonight, hustling a little more and winning this one easily by double digits.

Bryanz --

I really like Brown tonite too. Harvard is coming off a 20 DAY LAYOFF.

FWIW I just saw Yale -5.5 and Iona +4 at Camelot.

re: Iona at Niagara

These MAAC teams have been Jeckyl/Hyde; who knows which one is going to show up on a given night?

Niagara has traditionally been tough at home but this season they're a respectable 6-4 at home but 1-7 ATS at home.

Iona has owned Niagara: the Gaels are 19-4 all time vs Niagara in MAAC regular season games including 7-4 at Niagara.

Both teams have been playing pretty well and I wouldn't be surprised to see it come down to the last minute.

Seems like you should take Iona and the points.

what do you think of Santa Clara?
with you on Yale, that rebounding edge is good enough for me

Jorgesca -- Honestly I don't know Santa Clara well enough to offer much of an opinion on this line.

All I can say is that it looks too easy: St. Mary's got stomped last time out by Gonzaga and the Gaels are 0-6 in league play, so why is the line only a point or so?

Since it seems like this line should be much more in Santa Clara's favor, I'd take St. Mary's in this game or lay off.

Superbook,

Santa Clara was a 3 point favorite when Vegas first issued their line. . . the public has bet it down to 1.5

Two teams clearly going in opposite directions and this would be a severe halt to Santa Clara's effort to turn around their season.

Gotta like them in this spot. . .

Nickelback --

Santa Clara does look like an easy winner, but as you know I've been burned the last six nights in my POD picks by "easy" winners so perhaps I'm just a little gunshy.

I don't know enough about this game to put forth an opinion on this match-up. I'll stick to the Ivy and the MAAC tonight!
