belfour in net tonight for dallas, watch out fla might be going with kidd tonight, taken from fla paper....

"While Keenan believes Luongo is the Panthers' goalie of the future, he said Trevor Kidd may get some playing time in the three-games-in-four-day stretch that begins tonight in Dallas.

"I think that I'll give Trevor an opportunity," Keenan said. "He's been working really hard off the ice. You have to reward people for their work and their effort, and he deserves to be rewarded."

wanted to post a few things before i got into any more team info. this is hockey related, just not gamlbing related......

taken from dallas team site, article by one of their announcers..

A new lottery of sorts starts this week in Alberta. It is called the "Breakaway to Win" scratch ticket and it offers a chance to win cash prizes, trips to hockey venues such as the Cup Finals and loads of merchandise. The proceeds from each $10 ticket go into the coffers of the two Alberta-based NHL teams, the Oilers and the Flames. Team officials are hoping the two-month lottery raises about $1.5 million per club. Not a lot, but every little bit helps for the cash-strapped Canadian teams.

If you were born in 1975 or later, have been chosen to play for your country at the Olympic games in Salt Lake and you don't currently wear a visor. ?Kwell, get ready to don one! A little known wrinkle in the equipment standards for the games states that any player born in 1975 or later must wear a visor while in competition. That means young non-window wearing players such as Ryan Smyth, Eric Brewer and Ed Jovanovski for Canada, along with Adam Deadmarsh, Mike York and Tom Poti for the Americans will have to adapt quickly to seeing the game through a shield.

and for those of you who like fights, here is one for ya:

okay now back to the games....

Forward Jon Sim and defenseman John Erskine, both healthy scratches against Detroit, are expected to play tonight, Hitchcock said.
?P Defenseman Brad Lukowich declared himself healthy enough to play tonight and is expected to be in the lineup, Hitchcock said. Lukowich missed the past six games with a fractured ring finger.

The trade of forward Benoit Hogue to Boston, and moving center Pierre Turgeon to a wing on Mike Modano's line, has given the Stars a more familiar look, with two clear-cut scoring lines and third and fourth lines determined to play seal-tight defense. The changes have opened a spot for a fourth-line center, which Rob DiMaio filled against the Red Wings, playing with newly acquired left wing Scott Pellerin and right wing Pat Verbeek. DiMaio could also remain a regular on the penalty kill.

Tonight Hitchcock will coach his 500th NHL game...

columbus/minny

columbus/minny

Tonight is the 39th consecutive sellout at Nationwide Arena. The Blue Jackets are 4-0-1-0 in their last five game on home ice and 9-3-2-1 in their last 15 contests at Nationwide Arena

The Jackets are in a bit of a bind with injuries. Lyle Odelein (back spasms), Tyler Wright (charley horse) and Kevin Dineen (strained groins) are questionable tonight for the 7 p.m. game against Minnesota.
None took part in an optional skate yesterday in Nationwide Arena, and decisions might not be made on all three until game time.
David Ling, who fared quite well in his Blue Jackets debut Jan. 10 in Chicago, will be called up from Syracuse today. Sean Pronger might get a call, too.
Columbus has only one open roster spot, so they'll need to clear a roster spot if both Ling and Pronger are needed.

MINNY from star tribune
Forward Andy Sutton, who has been out because of a strained groin, joined the team and practiced Wednesday. However, Sutton and defenseman Brad Brown (fractured ankle) are listed as questionable. If Brown feels OK during the morning skate, he might play tonight. Defenseman Brad Bombardir (ankle) remains out. . . . Manny Fernandez likely will start in goal.

My hunch is Salo will be playing both games of this home B2B.
His record for the first game over the past few years in this situation (playing both of a home B2B) is 4-2-0 with a 1.67 GAA
