CBB: 326-283 +86.9 units 26-12, L7
Kansas -5.5 6 units
A little time for explanation today.
Quickly paged bback on some records, think I've played Kansas twice this year - 1-1 ytd. Played against Jayhawks around 7 times, 5-2.
Most recently, 3-0 on Kansas games: OK +8 (Big 12 Championship, Holy Cross +28, Kansas -6 vs Stanford. No homer plays.
Tough to look back to last year and make any play tonight that has relavence. A few points yoiu might find intriguing.
#1 Illinois defeated #4 Kansas in the sweet sixteen last year, 80-64. Illinois had a couple of worthy seniors that made a difference last year, forgetting their names at the moment. Kansas had two seniors, Gregory and Cheno"worthless". Thought neither played, but sure enough, they were in the boxscore, and not at the hotel.
Well, we all know Frank Williams is still on the team, and ate Hinrich alive for 30 points lLY.
Williams will be defensive responsibilies of freshman Miles and Langford tonight.
Playing at the Kohl Center in Madison should be a concern for the Jayhawks. The Illini play there every year. Hmmm. Kohl Center opened in January of 1998. Illini 1-3 there and 0-3 with this squad.
Kansas #1 FG% 50%
Kansas #4 3pt% 42%
Kansas #3 RB margin.
FT% - give Kansas another advantage.
No discredit intended toward Illinois, a great team that is peaking. Finally healthy and deserving!
Final info from OZ. The press has hounded the Jayhwks for being "soft", folding in the Dance. They had every right, as the Jayhawks are highly ranked every year and are known for early exits recently. Well the press got real quiet this year. Why not? Kansas was the first team to go undefeated in the BIG 12, better shut up.
Press woke up big time when Kansas bearly escaped against Holy Cross. Feel this may have worked in Kansas's favor. The team really got worked up about it and pounded Stanford. The interesting side of it, the team is still worked up about it and mentiioning it in almost every interview.
Should be a great game, just some thoughts as to why I played the way I did.
gl!
Back later.
