The Nuggets are one of the best teams to take advantage of certain situations, such as tired teams. I recently read an article where the author downplayed the advantage of teams that play and train at altitude, saying that pro athletes are in amazing shape and high altitude training has little to no advantage. As a person who lived at 8500 feet for 11 years, and went to school for four years before that in a town with the Olympic Training Center, I could only shake my head while reading that incorrect synopsis.
The Mavericks put up a valiant fight and effort last night. Dirk finally started to look a bit more like himself down the stretch, but I doubt that he will be able to play so many minutes tonight. Mayo should have a better game tonight, not sure how it could get any worse, but also not sure that Collison can match his performance from last night.
Dallas is the worst team in the league at giving up offensive rebounds to opponents, which was evident last night when they gave up 17 to OKC, which is way above the Thunder's average of 10.4 a game (they are 24th in the league). And guess who is the #1 offensive rebounding team? Denver should have a field day in the paint tonight. They are 1st in the league by a large margin at scoring in the paint, averaging more than 15 ppg than Dallas, and the second chance points should be abundant. They also average 5+ rebounds more per game than Dallas, and tonight I expect that it will be easy for them to meet this margin.
Teams who face the Nuggets off an OT game are 4-8 SU (-7.7 ppg) and 2-10 ATS in the last 12. Denver is scrappy, young, fast, and well-conditioned. That is exactly the kind of team you don't want to face after a hard-fought physical overtime loss, especially for a Dallas squad that is desperately seeking an identity.
Nuggets -2.5 x2
Nets -9.5 (for reasons stated yesterday in a different thread)
Good luck...
