last night's plays go 2-3 with samford and fau losing the covers in the final seconds. welcome to ncaa hoops. i've got an ugly one tonight (what else is new?). hold the tomatoes and hear me out.
dartmouth pk: how's this for ugly? at 6-15 there's not much to like about big green but lets take a closer look under the hood. first off, know that dartmouth has only played 6 home games all year. they're 2-4 in those games - they pounded a div iii school i've never heard of and beat brown by a dozen. their 4 losses were to quinnipiac by 3, b.u. by 3, harvard by 1 and princeton by 4. they've been competitive in most of their road games, and actually beat georgetown (fwiw) and took stanford to overtime. yeah, they just got drilled by princeton but that was at the end of 4 consecutive road games and the tigers just smothered them. tonight they have cornell, who they lost to @cornell by 8 after leading at halftime. tommorrow is bottom feeder columbia, who they already beat by 16 in the city. believe it or not, if they win these two, they could still make the ivy league tournament, as only princeton, penn and yale are shoo-ins. theoretically they should be motivated as this weekend are their biggest games of the season. most power ratings make cornell a 2 to 4 point favorite, yet this line opened at dartmouth -1- and has understandably been bet down to a pickem with overwhelming action on big red. in a nutshell that's how i usually roll.
