Heard a podcast the other day from a guy from the Guardian who seemed pretty knowledgeable on the African sides and he was talking about an interview that he had with Cameroon striker and captain Samuel Eto'o. The Guardian guy noticed that he was watching an Arab league game before the interview and knew the differences between the way a defense stacks in that league, Serie A and La Liga and said that he talked for 45 minutes of strategy before the interview began. . . on his own time. The Guardian guy said that Eto'o's main problem for Cameroon was that he knows exactly where he needs to be and gets there, but his countrymen aren't polished enough to get the ball to him when/where he wants it and is used to getting it at the club level and his frustration is immediately evident which is a trait leaders rarely possess.
And now this week, he's trading barbs with ex-players and threatened to quit the side.
And they play a Portugal team for their send off game following a horrible draw. Ronaldo and Portugal have been below expectations but have come through when they've needed to in the last year of qualifying.
